Thread: CU forced me to respec out of master musican

for a week or so all i could think about was how to continue playing this game now that i can no longer have the combat side of things. what i mean here is that if u weren't already a combat prof on the side and also a musician, let's say u mastered an ent prof first and then started in on a combat prof for a little extra cash, then u got screwed with the cu. u can't get good weapons, u can't wear armor and u can't hunt essentially for ages. because of xp, u are limited even to the type and location of creatures u can hunt at any given time. so, because of all this, i was forced to give up my master musican to respec to master something combat (i chose rifles) BUT, and here's the kicker, i kept the essential part of master musician! what does this mean? well, i am now Master rifleman and 4040 musician which means i can do almost everything in the musician profession (u give up virtuoso, nalargon, and the theater quest) but my buffing ability is obviously lowered with this template. this latter fact is the best part of it, if u ask me, since i won't be giving out the free atk buffs SO easily anymore. if anyone clicks on me, it will take longer to get buffed from THIS atk buffbot. it's a matter of principles, but at least it is some kind of protest (even if it adversely affects combat players) against making us atk buffbots. there is one other plus, too. if and when there is an entertainer upgrade, the fabled EU, then u will still have the musical techniques line which is now just for effects and instrument assembly (god, will they finally make our instruments have quality? are we going to discover the tatooine version of a stradivarius?) and whatever they do to it, u will get it immediately so all you will have to do to grind back to master musician (if the EU makes it worthwhile) is get the healing experience. id ont think that will be as hard as mastering even one combat elite.

First, sorry to see another musician drop it because of this /sarcasm Wonderful /sarcasmoff CU.

Side note though.....
At 4040 you do give up Nal and Virtuoso, however the quest can be completed much lower and all you need to use the reward is 0010 Music (or 1000). You can bank 450K xp at 0010 Music to learn the scroll and there are no other limiting factors on the quest (except that you need Nov Music to read the scroll, but you need higher to bank the 400K xp). Also if you have already done the quest and learned "Western", you could drop to 0000 ENTERTAINER and still play it.

Talking about this is again stirring a crusade within me. I must launch that soon.

yeah, i am pretty pissed off at the new CU even if there is a possibility to marginally play now. i just hated the fact that i had to give up musician (and since i still have respec time i may go back to it anyway since i am an enetertainer at heart; that is what sold me on this game btw). and that is good news about the western song. i think i will repec back and learn it and then, if need be, re-repsec back to rifleman. anyway, what revolutionary tactics do u have in mind?

My goal was initially to be a rifleman/ranger but once I picked up music, I never looked back.

So I wasMaster Musician/Master Entertainer 0110 Rifleman when the CU hit. I had some dabbling in Scout and medic as well.

I ended up going out a few nights to get some rifles XP, dropped all medic and scout and put those points in rifles.

I then dropped the healing trees of music and the first half of Tech, and respec'd to master out rifles and then used Music to grind the XP back.

I now have Master Ent/Music/Rifles, which was my goal once I decided to keep music!

I still have very generous customers and many visitors to the cantina make it a point to be good to the entertainers.

I hope your experience with Musician is still rewarding for you, be it monetary or play experience...

Musician is still fun to do, IMO.

I respeced musician to TKM. In a year and a half I had never gotten past unarmed II...but I always wanted to be able to have a chance fighting too. I'm earning musician back. I knew that I would still play music much more than I would fight, and I won't die playing music, so I'm only temporarily not master musician. Plus I had a lot of xp, so I was able to train back several boxes immediately.

yeah, i think i am going to train musician back because, in soem ways, that is the funnest part of the game. however, having master rifleman is not bad (thank god for the respec). i was rifleman 1000 and novice pistoleer trying to decide which way to go just before the CU hit. thats kind of a bummer because that is why i had to respec musician since i was nowhere near master in anything other than master musicain. the whole CU hit so hard that only those previous elite combats profs could benefit. that is why they obviously let everybody respec in the end. they knew if we couldnt resepc either, we would surely leave the game becasue we would truly have nothing to do. the cu is crazy in many ways (levels, certs for armor, verts for weapons, solo play) but it has also nerfed a TON of professions. now, u gotta fight, in a group essentially, or die. OR hunt for a living. that is what i am doing and i think i am going to make.. shame that it had to be this way though. i wont go back to musician as master until they let me know what they plan to do with it. just some plans, mind you, i want to know if they are thinking about us )because i am really a musician at heart in this game.)

Well...it's the last day of the respecs, and with no news of any reason to be a Master Musician, mechanically speaking, I've dropped Master Entertainer (I recorded mandoviol tracks on my droids) and am down to just Composer in Musician.

I'm a little bummed that it came to this, because I did enjoy being able to play any song in the game. But I enjoy being able to go out and do more than just stand around in a cantina, hotel, tavern, theater or other venue waiting to feel like a needed part of the community. Just like I enjoy being able to step back from combat and do something fun, relaxing and almost creative.

It just didn't used to be quite such a painful choice.

yeah, unfortunately, i am stayiong with my respec to master rifleman. and, yes, a painful decision it was, especially considering the fact that i worked hard to be a mster musician and simply respeced to be master rifleman. interesting. and i am sure that the other rifleman who earned their titles would have something to say about those new "respecies" who came into the ptrofesstion, but the CU made me do this. absolutely forced me to respec. so, echi, i for one feel your pain.

completely respec'ed and grinded out a CL 80 combat character. I've settled into Master Pistoleer/Master Smuggler, with some commando and tka to round it out.

No entertainer at all. It's kinda sad, but my character was an entertainer at launch. I remember Tarot from the early Coronet Cantina days as we all raced to master together.

It was just time to move on, I guess. I'll miss playing the mando and nala with my lil droid RT-HM, but they'll always be on display in my house (well, as soon as I drop 'em in therethey will be.)
