Just trying out my Musican since the CU and i find any song i pick just keeps repeating the first few bars, if i add enless florishes then the song continues but it still tends to keep repeating the start. Anyone have a tip for me on how to play the songs fully thru?

The music system in SWG is fairly simple there are four modes your song can be in at one time:
1) The start flourish
2) The base flourish
3) A playeractivated flourish
4) Theend flourish
Playeractivated flourishes can be activated with one of the following commands:
/flourish 1
/flourish 2
.
.
.
.
/flourish 7
/flourish 8
Below is my guess at what the code in our playing routine could look like (if it was written in English
)
1) /startmusic is typed
2) The start flourish plays
3) Is a player activated flourish qued? If yes goto 4, if no goto 5
4) Play the flourish with the number the player qued, then goto 6
5) Play the base flourish, then goto 6
6) Has /stopmusic, or /stopband been activated? If yes goto 7, if no goto 3
7) Play the end flourish
This means that if you do not do any flourishing the same bar will repeat over and over. I guess what this means is that there is no way to play a song fully through because there is now "through" there is onlt the direction you choose to take it.
I hope this answers your question.

If you want the song to keep playing different phrases of music, you need to keep flourishing. Once it finishes the flourishes you entered, it will return to the base music - this basically means the same bar of music, continuously, until YOU tell your character to jazz it up a little with the flourishes available for that song. The base music just means you won't have dead air and stop playing, but if you're listening to it long enough it will drive you insane. Flourishes are your friend.
I would assume that, as you mention your Musician specifically, you're aware of how to take care of this issue. If it's another entirely, we could probably use some clarification as to your problem.
If you refer to a low level musician who's been gathering dust, I ought to just say that playing a "song" will not automatically play out an intricate, set piece of music for you, lasting 1-5 minutes. That's what musicians are supposed to do themselves - guide the flourishes they have for some given music they have to create their own songs.
