Thread: AFKing in Far off cantina's

I know that many people don't like the AFKing of musicians and dancers in the popular cantinas where we all meet to chat and RP. but what about the far off cantina's on Datooine, Rori, Endor etc.

The people who go to those cantina's are there only to get healed and get back into the figh as quickly as possible. Also it is almost impossible to find an entertainer there most of the time.

In my case, I don't want to be an entertainer, a glowing blue box told me I have to if I wish to become more powerful. I enjoy the other aspects of the game and would rather not have to sit in front of the computer for weeks on end playing music. Now on the other hand I do not want to disrupt others enjoyment of the game either.

So I am interested in constructive thought on whether this is a solution to us that do want to gain xp, - although slower give that the Cantinas are not very full -but that we can do so while AFK, plus providing a service that does not really exist today.

i made a suggestion a few weeks ago before hte jedi hype kicked into over drive that AFK musican should go to the unused cantinas in the unpopular cities like kor vella on corellia. but none of the other musicans liked it because there really is no posible way to make them go to those cantinas.

but if your only looking to gain XP and your not after free money then this would probably be a good idea. just make sure that if your going to use a macro to play that you do not use any text messages because that will only piss everyone off.

How do you improve the entire game, and one of the more useless professions at the same time? Well this is a start: Help Support the http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=squad_leader&message.id=10609>Fortification Proposal

You know what Doug, it's your game, you pay for the servicesoplay the game as you see fit. Others may not like it, others may not agree with it, but the fact still remains that it's your game. If you choose to AFK you will find opposition. That's a choice that you make. You don't have to have the approval of a collective profession to do the things you want. The experience is yours to be had, therefore you should pursue it in a manner that will bring delight to your soul.

Flameme all you want, life is too**edit** short to get upset over trivial things.

What I've been doing since the holocron told me the same thing is going into the side roomsof the cantinas and playing afk. My thought behind doing this is that if live entertainers are present they can have the main floor in the bar area and no one will really notice me with a group up front but if no group or performer is around PCs still have a entertainer that can heal their mind. Just my 2 credits worth

All I know is that I am not in this profession and I think AFKers are cheap but it would be great to see people doing the AFK like doug has said so that the busy places get the real people and the slow places get something for a quick fix me up.

Just my thoughts on it.

AFK to your hearts content.Perhaps if it was MORE FUN to sit there and play music people may stay in their seats. But as it is it is one of the most humdrum things in the game in my opinion. I don't ask for tips. I actually have gone to the areas where they are lacking musicians just so I could heal, converse and actually see where the healing was doing some good. But then again I also go afk to read, to watch Robot Wars etc... I don't just yank their healing out from under them.

Think Proactive not Punitive please! Lets stop with the taking away of things but providing incentives.

punitive can be an incentive

Im not against AFK they can afk all they want, it doesnt affect my fun.
Most of them do so on starter planets in crowded cities for a reason.
More xp in groups where there is a steady supply of healing xp and a small amount of tips.
The people who complain should move to the more advanced planets such as Dathoimir/Dantooine etc etc, less macroers and WAY better tips.
You wonder why tips are low on starter planets? mission payouts.
I did a galaxy tour to see how bad the entertainer turnout was for the advanced planets.
It was pathetic, 90% of the time nobody was there entertaining the troops.
And you wonder why they love afkers it boggles the mind dont it.The live players dont go where the action is.The bad impression of this class is because this class cant see past it's own shortsightedness.

let me continue a bit with the shortsightedness

a group of 8 players on dathomir takes 16 missions, after the missions they head to the outpost where they find no entertainers for several days.after several days an afk bot shows up(that 10% I found in my tour were all afk)they are overjoyed to get rid of their BF quickly so they tip.what turned them off on the profession of ours? the fact that they are not worth your time to at least meet them halfway.
where are all the advance players in our profession? they are in a starting city on a starter planet competing for tips with an afk bot that uses an annoying msg
Both players the advanced live and the starting afkers are being shortsighted
As an afker DONT use macros begging for tips and heals
As an advanced entertainer goto the advanced planets to heal advanced players
If both sides would use common curtesy the average player would be happier with our beloved profession.
