Only the master or near master musicians would be familiar with this problem, but it annoys me to no end and it's a major reason why you don't see many ommni boxes and nalargons around in the cantinas. It's instrument hijacking. This cannot happen with any instrument you hold, such as a horn, flute, guitar, etc, but it happens regularly with the instruments you must pseudo-put down, ie, the ommni box and especially the nalargon.

For some reason, the devs overlooked the fact that, not only could the instrument's owner play it, ANYONE could target and play it. So, some bozo, thinking he's being cute, will come up and use my nalargon. It will teleport such that it is centered on him, and then shortly afterwards it will disappear (as apparently whatever lock it had with my character is broken). So, I stop playing and must get the **edit** thing out again, only to have the same harassing punk come back and do it to me again.

I'm extremely frustrated at the absolute lack of foresight of the dev team illustrated by this problem. I want this fixed as soon as possible. It should not be too hard for the devs to put in a little if check to make sure that the player that can use a grounded instrument is the owner of that instrument (ie, in their inventory).

Yes, this is annoying. When someone does that to me while playing my Ommni Box I will simply switch to another instrument that they can't mess with.

However, if this is fixed then I fear the Ommni Box and Nalagorn will no longer be playable by 2 musicians at the same time...

Well, having grifers sucks. But I love a pair of Masters playing the same Nalagorn. I hope they don't "fix" this.

That's quite an irritating thing sure. But it never happened to me very often. I wish the dev may find a solution but i hope that we still have the opportunity to see a duet of master on a nalargon becauseit is quite impressive.

However the nalargon and the ommni box areaccording to methe worst entertainer instruments of the game. When you are using them you are unable to entertain with others. you cannot use ventriloque, you cannot read the bio which help to speak with other players, u cannot check the Ham barto see how injured is a player. Dev should finda way to allow us to really entertain with such instruments.

At the moment though, you can read bios (inconveniently) by typing /examine and the player's name.

It seems to me that griefers are a hell of a lot more common than 2 master musicians occupying the same space at the same time

But if you REALLY want that ability to stay, then make ita special case where nalargons can be played by multiple musicians...just remove the side effect of the instrument hijack.

Thanks for your post. I've noted this bug/feature (whichever it is) prominently in my "State of the Profession" report to the devs, which is posted in this forum. Next time I see the Musician dev on TC, I'll ask him about it specifically.

And don't forget to ask the pick radial menu to be back.

Sometimes I sound really old to remember time when you can put your nalargon back in your back and have a more dignified goodbye without letting things behind you ! It used to works in late july - august!

I had this happen last night all I did was laugh the first time, the second time I smiled and said if you ever hope to get a heal, or a buff from me again please leave me Nalg be

His reply was "I dont need any buffs"

He seemed to stop after that.

Other people moving your instruments can be annyoing, but don't be too harsh - remember, many never saw a Nal (played) before so of course they are curious and examine it and once they have the radial up it is just a little step to select the 'use' option.

I never met a real 'griefer' moving it on purpose, and a little bit of RP leading to some /laugh cleared things - for me - all the time.

For example I use things like:

'Hey! Who touched my Nal? I will duel you to death in a handbag fight!' /pillow offender

/firejet 'Hands off, my instrument is full of explosives and you will hurt yourself'

'You touch it you buy it - now pay me 5k and I will hand it over'

Maybe I was just lucky, but no big problem here with this bug/feature and I would miss playing Nal with 2 players. YMMV

I did have this happen to me once in the Theed cantina when I was playing ommni and about 30k from Master. Guy comes in, fat twi'lek newbie (his server was down) and decides to parade my ommni around the floor. When it would disappear and I would get it out again, he would do it again. Did this about half-a-dozen times until I said: "Look, I'm almost a master, I cannot get experience if you keep stopping my playing, I'm asking you very nicely to please leave my instrument alone." And then I got made the band leader so I could kick him out if he did it again.

He stopped after that.
