Thread: What's your fee for a gig?
What is your hourly fee to do gigs? By a gig I meanparty, ball, other special occasion where you perform solo or with a band for a certain amount of time.

I don't really "charge" for any of my services. When people ask for a price, I turn it back on them: "Whatever you think is fair." Usually they turn around and give a number right away. If it sounds like a fun gig, it doesn't really matter what the number is. If it sounds less interesting, I act vaguely disappointed at the low number until they raise it to something better. 
I get a lot of repeat business this way.

Although I am always flexible when it comes to fees, I generally say 5k per performer who is there on the night. So this normally works out costing the host about 40-50k for a gig. In some ways it sounds a lot, in others it is dirt cheap - especially when you consider what they are getting and how much work goes into it as it means we aren't making money from tips. However, being in the industry for entertainment of myself as well as others, this isn't an issue 
Find out the going rate on your server and charge whatever you feel is fair
The tips I get during the gig are quite suitable for what I need, so my charge is zero.

Astral Fantasia's current charge is 50k for a show. This includes about 10 master performers + medics. sometime we get extra tips, sometimes we dont. Occasionally the host of the party offers more than the 50K fee.
We usually put the cash in a collective band fund to use for our general band stuff. every so often we split up the money we make for a show.
