Thread: /changeband bug

Ok, this seems to happen to me pretty often, was curious if this happens to others or if others can recreate it.

/changeband seems to work fine when all musicians are playing. But if a musician is NOT playing and holding an instrument, when /changeband is invoked, the musician will start to animate, and you can hear them playing, but they cannot flourish.

If this happens to you, you get weird messages about not being able to flourish again yet, until you move, or in some cases have to /stopmusic and /startmusic before flourishing is possible again.

This is a huge pain in the tush. =P Anyone else had this problem?

Yep.. it would be nice if they fixed it but it's been like that for a while.

At least we do have the work around fix of /stopb and then starting back up again.

I encountered this on TC just last weekend. I was grouped with a novice entertainer. When she dropped out to regen action, I stopped and played some other tunes. She jumped back in and I did either /change or /changeband starwars1 and she was not able to flourish.

I did /stopband and /startband and then she was able to flourish, but her toon did not animate. It appeared this way on both our ends. She had to do a /stopmusic and /startmusic to get herself moving again.

I haven't had this problem because I don't use the /change commands very often; I almost always prefer to /stop. But I'll pass it along to the Powers That Be.

Yes I have seen this bug before. You can only use /changeband successfully if all musicians know the song you're changing to.

Also, never use /stopband because I have found that it can bug some musicians so they continue to play the current song unflourished (if they had a macro running before)

also, never use /stop as it will act like /stopband, use either /stopmusic or /stopdance if you wish to stop just yourself.

Don't even bother with /stopmusic /stopdance...just do /st to 'stand' and you'll immediately stop playing/dancing. Unless you want the closing bars of music, in which case /stopm works (though I usually manage to transpose that into /stomp :smileyvery-happy. /stopdance doesn't give you a closing movement, so it's redundant to /st for 'standing' up (which I still think is odd, as you're already standing while dancing. /rolleyes )

I know this used to be an issue, but I thought it was fixed several weeks ago. I've used /stopband liberally for weeks, and I've never had a problem -- nor have I had a problem when a bandmate uses the command. Have you experienced this bug in the past month? If so, what was the composition of the band, and what tune were you playing?

I haven't had a problem with /stopband, although I have noticed that not all songs end together well (different instruments have longer codas than others).

/changeband is extremely useful, as it means you don't HAVE to stop.. .i think sometimes the element of surprise entertains the audience (changing from a slow to a fast song at the drop of a hat with a fire jet effect for example). But it reliably bugs anyone who is not playing at that point.

Someone mentioned that doing /changeband to a song higher than all can play will stop some from playing. That's not a bug. Having /changeband cause an inability to flourish for people who CAN play the song is a bug.
