Thread: Player Cantina Financial Problem.........
Hello,
As some of you may know, thePlayer Cantina upkeep has been raised from 25c - 50c per hour. 25 credits higher than it was. After doing some simple multiplication, I came with the solution:
Old costs: (25 credits) X (24 hours) = 600credits/day (600/day) X (7 days a week) = 4200 c/week
New costs: (50 credits) X (24 hours) = 1200 credits/day(1200/day) X (7 days a week) = 8400 c/week
doublling the costs we pay. now dont get me wrong, but i am a combat class also so i can pay this, I just have to slightly getby every week. But i'm not worried about me much, The other Musicians/Dancers than enjoy entertaining so much that they focus souly on playing instruments or dancing. These people have the worries. Through the information i've gathered here is what i've found, That entertainer missions are in the average 150 credits per mission. And most times missions are not even in the terminals' cities. So now take 120 credits on an average out of the mission for shuttle costs.Missions usually last 10 minutes. Here is the math:
(30 credits per mission) X (6 missions/ hour) = 180 credits per hour (180 credits per hour) X (24 hours) =4320 credits per day (4320 credits per day) X (7 days per week) = 30240 credits per week
Seems like alot doesnt it? Well, throw in 12 hours a day for sleeping, eating and breaks in between every 5 missions out of the 72 aday, you come up with an amazing new expression:
(30 credits per mission) X (6 missions/ hour) = 180 credits per hour (180 credits per hour) X (12 hours) =2160 credits per day (2160 credits per day) X (7 days per week) =15120 credits per week
Alot, still? Well now add in the costs for your house that you must have in a player city in order to live in that city (and place the cantina)(I'm using a small house as an example):
16 credits per hour X 24 hours = 384 credits per day 384 credits per day X 7 days a week= 2688c/week Subtract: 15120 - 2688 = 12432
Hmm looking ok! Now take off 4 thousand credits (at an extreme minimum) for instruments and instrument making materials (And vender payments if you have one):
12432 - 4000 = 8432 credits per week
Good bye Musicians/Dancers! No more Cantina! Because at this rate you cant pay for your house and cantina, and you need a house to have a cantina so, cantina has to go.
These examples are on average, and i didnt include playing time (because who wants to do missions every solitary second of gaming time?). NewJedi, if you can respond to this post and elaborate more on why SOE raised costs? Again, i'm not trying to be selfish and ask to just lower cantina's cost, but i havent talked to doctors yet, hospitals may have been raised too andDoctors get pretty much the same as us. I dont mean to get smart, but it seems almost as though SOE didnt go over the MATH(shown above) that we can't afford it. But in all seriousness, It's almost as though they just thought "Cantina costs are to low" "Double them". and didnt checkover anything, like the entertainer economy of the game they designed. Please post back to me on this NewJedi. If they cant explain why costs are so high then plase ask them to lower them, if there is a good reason(s) that i can see just tell me and all of the Musicians/Dancers of SWG.
Does your Math actually figure that entertainers do missions for 12 hours ? Wow... I for one don't even have 12 hours of gameplay in the week ( excluding weekends ).
You are right, entertainer missions are a joke. But you can pay your cantina costs easily when you do 4 delivery missions daily ( 2 to target, 2 back ). At ~800cr per mission net gain that covers the costs nicely and takes 20 minutes a day if you have really bad luck with the shuttles.
10K credits a week is not hard, no matter what class. If anyone has problems with that, he should better play for a while and gain some more experience in this game before opening his or her own cantina.
For me, tipseasily cover the daily costs - build a reserve of credits so you can pay a while in advance too before you open it - having to do it day to day would be miserable.
Or ask for assistance from your mayor. If they want the cantina in their town - which they do - then they are likely to subsidize if needed.

We are talking about upkeep here, not taxes. Any building from personal harvesters to PA Halls costs upkeep. If you think the upkeep system is bad, you will probably never own any building ![]()
no one said we enjoy paying the taxes (or upkeep) but it certainly isn't prohibitive - especially if you want to have a Cantina to call your very own it's quite reasonable

Ahem...Cover charge, tips.. Go find a real problem to bitch about.
I appreciate this thread. I'm one such person who would be affected by this, being asked to run the cantina for our city and being focused solely on entertainer skills. In my case, however, the PA and city is subsidizing the cost of the building. For a public service such as a cantina, I would think that it would be common practice for the city to raise enough taxes to pay for officially sanctioned city structures such as this. So at the moment, I'm not worried.
Perhaps for entrepreneurs trying to make their own cantina it would present a problem. But in such a case, it was not officially sanctioned by the city, and it is common knowledge that you need credits to make credits.
