Thread: buff yourself yet
hey all.. i was wanting to go musician a while back but didnt do to not being able to buff my own stats as well as others.
has there been any change in this? Can you now buff your own mind?
No self-buff yet. We may get one eventually; I've asked the devs about it, and the obstacle is apparently more technical than conceptual. The buff is triggered by /stoplisten, but we're not supposed to /stoplisten to ourselves.
I'll bug 'em again this week.

Is it posible to simply change it so /setperform activates the buff? and you could have a command like /stopperform to stop the buff.I noticed that when a lot of people come up to me and ask for a buff they don't realy /startlistening befor i start /setperform.
I also insist that the listener start /listening *before* I type /setperform. I'm not convinced this is required, but I have close to a 100% success rate doing it that way.
The trouble with having /setperform trigger the buff is that it would be instantaneous; the client would have no reason to listen to our music at all. I don't think the devs would sacrifice that design feature. Anyway, I'm hopeful that they can find some other way to trigger a self-buff. I'll keep after 'em.
The way I do buffs, and get a 100% success on it, is I make sure I'm getting xp for it. You should get 7xp a tick for doing master level entertainment, 6xp a tick for doing knowledge IV level, and so on.. I think 4xp for novice elite level... And it's a steady xp, unchanging (Unless others in the group start buffing, or someone in the group is getting a passive buff.. But then it will just be higher - ie 14)
Don't know what I'll do when I cap on healing xp.. Drop master and a line of healing, then retrain it?

has this changed yet?
Not yet, and it's not changed in the coming patch, as far as I can tell. It's one of the Top Ten Questions we just submitted to Thunderheart; we'll see what he says in response.
Speaking of which, TH, if you're reading this: it's been a week now...
