I wanted to leave you a personal note before I cancel..

I have never really visited the boards until just a couple months ago.. I probably wouldn't even been here today, if it wasn't for the fact that in the last few months my frustration has led me to resort to comming here seeking help to my frustration and disappointment with the musician profession.. I have been an active player since Day 1 Launch in June.. I have been a musician since day one, and have enjoyed much of the game in the beginning when there was so much to explore and enjoy.. Socialization is a HUGE need and requirement for me.. In the beginning when I was born in Narmle, Rori there was always 30+ people running around talking, hunting, crafting, entertainer, healing about the city.. It was a facinating adventure.. Pets were not an issue because no one had any access to Rancors and such.. Fighters got beat on, and needed healing from medic and entertainers alike..Resource gathering and crafting was at full speed.. At first I thought, "wow, just the game I've been looking for"... Then reality hit..

Fighters outgrew Rori and left, Rancor became as common as modern day dogs and cats, armor and weapons quality grew to such a point that most fighters could fight a complete day and never have more then 10 or 20 wounds to heal.. Macro's became the only way to grind thru faulty crafting professions.. Then the Holo's came out which in my opinion hurt the game, much more then it helped.. Sure it produced increase market economy, and professions, but it was only a false fix that did not target one of the true problems.

So why am I writing this to you NewJedi? As much as the content for musician in this game is as shallow as a toddlers wading pool, and increasing perks, or mission rewards is only a small part of a bigger problem.. Granted it will make many musicians happy for a short time, but the long term effects will not be corrected.. What I have noticed in this game is that people gather where the action is.. This is mostly controlled by fighters.. Fighters travel to where they can find exp, credits and loot.. Entertainers and Medics follow to get exp and tips as well.. This is a domino effect that effects everyone.. Remote cities and planets can not self sustain a community without the basic 2 ingredents of Fighting and Healing.. However, fighters don't follow the healers, but the other way around..

What SOE needs to do for any musician revamp or fixed to be long term effective is to change the galactic desirablilty of each and every planet.. The current state of the game does not do this.. Population is huge problem.. It might even be too late to fix that now, because there have been so many cancelled accounts that I don't think each server can sustain splitting up all those that populate 3 areas to 20.. But if SOE truely wants to save this game, from further doom, I would first push that SOE recognize a population problem and do something about it.. I played a musician to socialize and offer a service.. Why should I be forced to go to 1 of 3 areas to do so, and fight with AFK macrotainers.... SOE can add all the bells and whistles they want to Musician, but unless I see groups of adventures and people comming into my cantina on Rori, it will serve me no purpose..

Having traveling gigs.. OK that works for those that don't own a cantina, and even some cantina owners such as myself might enjoy on occasional basis.. Increase mission rewards.. Yes, that will help the pocketbook some, espcially in those empty cantinas that will have no tipping.. But the root problem is still there.. If I have to travel the galaxy and still be alone for the most part, then my enjoyment has not been fullfilled.. Where are the dozens of people that should populate any given city, ant any given time of the day like is used to be? So NewJedi.. I would strongly suggest that you should add this to your Top 10 issues, that not only effects musician but everyone playing this game in every city..

There are some great ways of solving this problem, which I have emialed SOE with, but have been completely ignored.. Maybe you and the other correspondents might have better luck..

Thanks for another thoughtful post, Liza. I think your post goes to the heart of the issues with SWG: they are ultimately issues of content. If there were more riveting, must-see content near each city -- content that can't be devoured in a half an hour or so, but requires time to enjoy -- then the population would be more spread out. E.g., if there were one-of-a-kind, challenging, rewarding, itemized dungeon that could only be accessed by first stopping in (say) the Yavin Mining Outpost (perhaps to get a "permit" to enter or some such), then that outpost would see more business. If there were such content near each and every city, then people would have more reason to congregate somewhere other than Coronet.

Now, all that said, I do think there's hope. My PA and I had a blast hunting on Yavin last night. What was striking, though, was that it was virtually empty! The Labor Outpost was completely deserted. I did buff a few people in the Mining Outpost, but even that was quiet. Now, a new dungeon goes live there next week. Like the Warren did with Dantooine, I expect this new Cave will increase traffic to Yavin. That's a good thing -- for fighters, for healers, and for us Musicians.

I just wish we'd see more than one new dungeon per publish. SWG needs 10 dungeons per planet! And the dungeons need to take a long time to fight through, and they need to offer tangible loot rewards. Much as I have qualms about EQ, I have to admit that its hand-crafted, nicely-itemized, challenging dungeons are a great example.

Anyway, thanks for your post. Good luck to you. I hope you'll consider returning to the fold in another six months or year. This game will gradually get better, but it's obviously going to take a lot longer than we all wish.
