Thread: Are Masters stealing exp?

I've finally managedto addMaster Musician to my Master Entertainer title. Now I am feeling guilty about continuing to perform in the tavern I've been playing in for the past month. Why? When I am in a group and folk with BF come in they are healed a **edit** site quicker so the group gets less of the oh-so-rare healing exp. Not being a member of the group is even worse as folk with major BF would spot me and listen to me instead of the group.

I don't want to be seen as "elite" by withdrawing from regular preformances but I do want to be fair to those I have spent many, many days and nights with in the tavern. So it looks like a weekly performance with daily watching/encouragement is what I am going to be limited to.

It's sad really, to reach my goal and then to find out that by doing so I am hurting others.

Very honorable intentions, however very unnecessary. The group gets the same healing xp weather you are there or not. They just get more for a shorter period of time. For example instead of getting 2xp 20 times they'd get 20xp 2 times. Either way they get 40xp. So you're not stealing any xp from them that way. However by not being in the group, people who listen to you instead of the group would be xp lost by them.

To add to Tiaga's points...when folks come in and see anyone with the Master title or playing at a Narlagon, they gravitate towards him/her. If you're part of the larger group, then you're helping them get more healing xp, since folks home in on the master title/instrument.

Also, patrons really appreciate being able to get healed up fast. Those who're likely to stick around and socialize don't care, but honestly that's a minority of patrons. So you being there regularly, and patrons knowing that, means they'll make a point to come back in the hopes of finding you. Which again means you add to the group's healing xp.

So don't hold back! Jump around on that Narlagon keyboard, if that's what you fancy! Me, I'll put the title up, but I hate the Narlagon. I play a Chidinkalu by preference, or if there's too much of that type of horn going on, the Bandfill.

The only time I feel I have to drop out of the group is when I'm doing a group passive buff and there's not enough room in the group for the buffees.

Thanks for putting my mind to rest - I'll carry on helping out the folks at the tavern (which is why I started playing there in the first place).

I'll stay with the Nalargon simply because I like the band to have a broad mix of instrument sounds - the Mandoviol is my second instrument of preference and the one I always use if I am group leader simply because I need to target people (too much hassle to type the very strange names when faced with a packed tavern).

Not to mention thata Master being around keeps training at hand for those advancing novices

Back yet again, for another round of SWG... um... fun. Yeah, that's it. (It's not just a diversion while I wait in the queues for WoW BG's)
