Thread: Ommni Box = Annoying?

So I finally got an ommni box last night. What's the deal, why would I ever use this once I hit master musician over my bandfill? I can't target anybody or I stop playing... after sitting and trying to start playing again I am usually off-center and look like I'm squatting next to the box instead of playing it... Ithink people can move it, cuz it vanished out from under me a few times last night and moved 10 feet away... it's much more of a hassle to drop it, target it, and then use it than it is to just start playing with a bandfill... and since it all sounds the same, what's the point? I mean the animations are ok, but I look like a court reporter in a music video or something, I don't know that that is more desireable than the animations with bandfill, especially for the inconvenience.

Anyone else have issues with this thing?

your right, I don't see many people using this at master musician other than to have a different looking instrument out on thefloor.

But on the road to master, people will use it for the higher xp.

I agree

But I also think it's still valuable to play Ommni for its original looking, even though it's annoying. Hopefully, it had original sound, too!

Yes, a big underlying problem is that too many of our instruments sound identical to other instruments. Ommni/bandfill is just one example.

In beta, before the musician tree reorganization, you got the ommni box before the bandfill. I figured it was specifically for this reason. At a higher level, you get the bandfill which is easier to play (doesn't require your 'concentration'). But the reorganization changed that. Not sure why.

Why is it when I play my new Omni Box, I stand up immediately, unless I've clicked on the Instrument itself, and am watching it?

I was running a Macro, not sure if that had anything to do with it...

(PS= Right now on Chilastra, I'm bugged, and cant stop sitting at my Omni Box! I'm outside of the Cantina, and I'm just sitting at an imaginary Omni Box. I get up and run, but when I stop...I sit back down at my Omni Box....that isnt there. )

You must have the ommni or nargalon targeted at all times. If you target something else, you will stop playing. It is very annoying.

This issue is now on my top-five list for the devs. It wasn't always; when we were all young Musicians, none of us even knew about it. But it's now cited with increasing frequency. Anyway,my impression from the devs is that this is not an easy thing to fix.The ommni and nalargon must be placed in the world, like a house or harvester, and things that are "placed" aren't normally "equipped" too.

I'll start a new thread on it in the Correspondent forum to see if there is any prospect for a fix any time soon.

They should use the vehicle template for the omni & nal.

vehicles are placed & equipped
