ok, I know it can be hard cause of all the copyrights stuff but.

I think it would be cool to implement a few more songs in the game, I guess it's all midi-based right ?
ok what I propose:
RL musicians/swg players should be able to propose new songs to the devs (via correspondant or other defined way) in Midi files.
Devs then, should lisen to the music and choose the best proposed songs in various styles.

Not that easy. The devs would then have to switch said song into SW:G format, but first, they'd need to make sure it's noy copywrited, because they can't just impliment any song they see fit. NEXT, they'd need to find the music sheet for that song, and get a part played, seperately mind you, by every instrument in the game. Finally, they'd have to add eight individual flourishes with sound and animation per instrument. Simply not plausible for player songs.

Personally, I'd get a big kick out of being a musical ombudsman; that would be one Correspondent duty that would be truly unique. But I just don't see it happening. I've been around and around thiswith the devs before, and the bottom line is copyright is a big big obstacle. An ombudsman system isn't going to catch all copyright violations. And one Correspondent wouldn't begin to be enough; SOE would need dozens of people to check and triple-check submissions. Thousands of Musicians play SWG, and if each submitted a dozen songs a year, phew, that's a lot of checking.

Copyright isn't the only issue. LucasArts has a pretty strong interest in policing new content for consistency with Star Wars canon. Sure, they may have been flexible on some deviations, but it's still an issue.

But it doesn't hurt for us to ask. It was in one of my recent posts to the devs -- Top 10, State of Profession, I forget which. Who knows, maybe some day they'll change their tune, so to speak.

I just wish you could take something like starwars2 and choose the tempo and the key you want to play in. I'd like it if when you played two flourishes one after the other, the first flourish would affect the second, so it sounded different, play a third right away and it would be different too. So flo 3 usually goes bla bla bleet on it's own, but if it follows flo 1 it goes bla bla bleet bla bleet..I want to wanderin some cantina and see some novice hotshot, listen, and be jealous, or roll my eyes, whatever. Something where you could be surprised how somebody managed to make something fresh.

The songs just get old so fast, I love the comments from people sometimes, hehe. One time some afk'er was playing starwars1 without any flourishes and these wooks kept talking how he sucked, it was pretty hilarious. Anyway, that lady has new tunes she's made, and when the devs finally get around to adding them--they'll be old in a week. I don't think it'sa larger variety of songs we need, but a greater variety of things we can do with the songs we have.

Yes! A /changekey command would make the songs a bit more fun to play again. I'm soooo tired of the 10 songs in this game. There's only so much you can do with them creativity wise within the game.
