Atleast 2-3 times a day a new person gets invited to a group that I've been in for awhile and decides to change the song to something half the group can not play.

Is there a way to solve this without using that band stop command?

Thanks in advance,
Bodda

Nope. You just have to ride herd on the group and make sure that everyone who wants to be playing with the band gets the opportunity to do so. If you have the ability to change the song via /changeband [songname], do that rather than stopping the band, though. Or ask that someone in thegroup change it, and give it a minute for someone to do so. /stopband is evil, unless you're trying to finish off a song nicely for everyone.

HOWEVER......

Beware the /change command....

If there are people not playing....lets say because they do not have the skill to play the current song or if they stopped because they ran out of action....and you /change to a song they can play....they become bugged! They move like they are playing and the "vamp" sound comes out, but they do not flourish (regular or Band), and if you /stopband they WILL NOT STOP, and if you /change to something they can't play they WILL NOT STOP the other song. It requires the user to intervene (I can't remember if they need to move or /stopmusic or both...its weird tho) to get out of it.

I prefer the /stopband command, BUT it needs to be followed with a /startband (song). The person doing the /startband command gets bugged in a similar (but not identical...no flourishes and no sound) way, but, well hey you're there, just move a step and /startmusic to get playing again.

Both commands need fixing, but I've found that, with asking if its OK and a warning of an upcoming /stopband /startband, that is a better combination to reduce the song level in a group. You can also do it if not playing....something you cannot do on /change. You need to be playing the song to do a /change.

frag, you don't have to move a step, which helps if your band is in formation. (I know, that rarely happens anymore. . .)

just hit /stand;/startmusic

and you're back in.

so the series of commands should look similar to this:

/stopband

/startband <song>

/stand

/startmusic

/tip Kora 500000 bank

copy that and put some pauses in between.

True.

I like the macro, and had it one less zero in line 5 you would have had a nice e-mail coming at you in game 8).

There are many ways to do the personal restart for the /startband bug. I just listed the easiest for me to just do on the fly.
