Thread: Thoughts/Feedback on the Entertainer Quests

So, what's the take on the new Entertainer Quests?

From what I hear, it seems to me that they're VERY much like the old boring missions, but break out the champagne, we get a whopping 1000-5000 credits for the mission. Hardly in line with anything that Master combat professions can make.

My thoughts/questions on what I've heard so far:

1. Nowhere near anything resembling new content, or content that will do anything for us for more than a week or two. It sounds like the same old missions we used to get before. A little more money. Not much.

2. They're buggy and have remained bugged in the past week, it was getting worked on, but was abandoned this past week.

3. Are these repeatable? In other words, can we just keep doing them? Or, once we finish it, is that it?

All in all, from what I hear, it sounds like this "content" is a real dud.

Thoughts?

I think LeBob and I are the only ones trying to really do these and see that they get fixed.

Here are answers to your statements and questions.

Preface and #1 - They are NOT like the old boring missions. They are a NEW FORM of boring missions.

I have only done #'s 1-5 and here are what they are:

I) "Audition" In a theatre you perform for judges. When the audition begins you play the song requested, and do the flos asked for. Then they as for a new song CHANGE to that song and do the flos they ask for again. 2 songs, 2 flos each, pay is 500cr.

II) "Advertise" for an upcoming "show" in the theatre. This is the "get people to listen to you" mission from the helper droids. However its gettign 10 people to listen (Droid is 7 I think) and the award is "Popularity Rating 1".....whatever that means. It is also necessary to do before .....

III) "Performance" After you speak to the manager, they ask if you are ready to begin your "performance". If you say "yes", 3 minutes later, your "performance" begins. No additional audience appears (unlike the judges who do appear on stage behind a table), but after the time the "performance starts". Throughout, every 25-30 seconds you get an "audience approval rating". This number is cumulative and you have7 cycles (6 which they give you a rating and the final which they do not just a "success" or fail") to get the # to 100 (I believe). If you succeed....you're 1000 credits richer.

IV) MORE "Advertising" EXACT SAME thing as #2 except.....get 20 people to listen and success gives you "Popularity Rating 2", which I still don't know what that means.

V) ANOTHER "Performance" Same as #3 with these changed variables.....a) 2 minutes to be on stage to begin, not 3 b) 14 cycles of "show" to get audience rating (13 plus final) c) Target goal is 250 (maybe?...it never says, but I only succeeded once and it was over 250, others didn't get that high) and d) Such a happy audience only means 1500 credits in your pocket.

Yes I beat #5, but it looped me back to #4 so I don't know what #6 is....and after I looped, they broke so I have not been able to get past it again.

2 - They are buggy, but there has not been an update (update with notes that is) since 6/19. That update was after they stopped working, but is still6 days ago. I'm sure they're working on it....real hard....ya right. The last update wassupposed to get music into the Theed Salon, but that is still broken too, even though3 others work.

3 - They appear to be non-repeatable (and I wouldn't want to so far), but I have not gotten to the end (if there is one). FYI, if you fail missions 1, 3, or 5, you can retry, BUT you must wait 24 hours to do so. As I didn't pass #5 til my third time through, this may take some people many days. Especially if there are worse missions than #5 in the series.

So far, I agree.....dudsville. Lets see how it ends though. I'm hoping for a plot twist.

I've been trying these as well and Fragpuppie pretty much has it down...these are the newbie droid missions transferred to a NPC Theater Manager with their numbers changed (ie entertain 10 people instead of 7). The only thing different seems to be the approval rating of the audience on missions 3 & 5, but even that is easy enough to win.

Last time I tried it out, I won the approval of the audience for #5, went and talked to the Manager, but she didn't say anything so I /bugged it. a few minutes later she despawned and a new TM appeared in her place. When I talked to this one, she told me that my audition before the judges would begin in 30 seconds...I went and performed for the judges and came back to the TM telling me to go advertise to the people by entertaining 10 of them. It seems that for some reason the swapping of TM's reset my missions, and I haven't been able to find 10 people on TC during the times I've tried again, so I still don't know if the reset of the manager helped at all.

Agreed. They pretty much feel like slightly hopped-up starter droid missions so far, and not really anything for existing playersto get terribly excited about.

I've been testing them on the dancer side of things, and still have yet to catch them working for the third phase on TC - I'll jump over there here in a minute and try again.

I'm really hoping that we're only seeing the tip of the iceberg here, and that they do in fact get more interesting deeper into the quests... but I'm not really holding my breath for it either. Someone commented that bya few missionsinto Jabba's themepark, you'd have made a handful of credits and maybe a stone knife just like these quests pay, but I don't know if the entertainerquests are going to be developed as far as a themepark (i.e., more 'missions' that eventually give out interesting rewards). It seems likely that our 'themepark' is being reserved for the Hutt casino, assuming that I've interpreted that info correctly.

Perhaps the entertainer questswere really only intended to extend the new player experience?

When I beat #5 I wanted to see #6. I talked to the manager and she congradulated me and gave me 1500cr. I spoke to her again and she gave me mission #4 "more advertising". I didn't notice (I thought it looked familiar) until I was getting the 20 people and all the messages of "x more people until popularity rating 2". I finished it and went on to ...#5 again. This time I failed, and its been bugged and unattemptable since.

*sigh*

I was hoping to hear that they were more exciting than that. I'd be testing them, but I'm not on the servers that have been copied to TC.

Now, someone remind me why they wasted their time with something this mundane, when in the same time they could have just as easily fixed the buff system and maybe added a system message for when our buffs apply, or maybe a little symbol that would fall on the heads of our buffees (a la Doctors/patients) so people would know we're buffing, and we'd know if the buff was in progress. That simple addition would vastly improve the new player experience, and the veteran playing experience.

But no, we get a series of quests that seem to follow 2 basic styles, that repeat ad nauseum until we get some kind of reward. I guess the reward is the key, if it's worthwhile then ok - but the process seems pretty boring from what I'm hearing. These could have been sooooooo much better.

Why oh WHY don't those people solicit our ideas for REAL????? MAN WE COULD HAVE MADE THESE SO MUCH BETTER!!! That really irritates me.

Maybe if TH or any Dev would've actually posted in our In Development thread more often than once every 4 months, something useful and interesting might have been developed. Something we'd enjoy doing. This sounds pretty dull. I'm going to sulk for awhile.

I can dream, but I would hope that every player owned cantina got a terminal where admins could announce their need for entertainers, and put a certain amount of money that could be paid to the entertainer(s) taking the mission.

Entertainers could look up on a list of cantinas given to them by the theater manager, and select the one they would like to take.

I am sure that several cantina owners would like to spend a lot of cash to draw entertainers to their cantina using a system like this. I know I would.

Chilastra: K'yp Darron
Core Resources power vendor: Tusk'ens Bane (-4530, -5915)

TC-Prime: Leno, Bamih and Locin We-Eda

Yet another GREAT idea, that would help benefit the player base AND encourage people to travel to Player city cantinas. But, of course, it will sit in this forum and ROT because we have no means of anyone working with us to fix our profession.

This is really an awesome idea, thanks for sharing. I read it, andI can imagine a fabulous game where it's been incorporated and competition for entertainers between cantina owners gets fierce. haha. This would be great when having a party at your cantina, request entertainers, so many at X amount of credits, and people can "accept" the "mission" to go and play at the party.

God, this really needs to get put somewhere were someone important will see it - like OHHHH....a tatoo on the forehead of a Dev, reversed so they can see it when they look in a mirror.
