I am new to the Musician boards and have seen a lot of very heated talk about the desctruction of AFK abilitiesfor entertainers. Can someone give me a quick run-down on why so many ppl are against AFK macroing? I made Master Musician with about 50/50 real-time to afk-time, in-game. I am primarily working on an alt character to act as a buffer for my main. I am not a Musician for the RP aspect. I just do not understand where the obvious "dislike" for "macroers" comes from. Is it a money earning thing or that the "idea" of what an entertainer "should" be is being violated somehow?

because some of us did it all ATK and still consider it cheating.

Yes I also work 40 hour days and have a wife and pets and housework etc. But I don't have an AFK bot running and made ME in the first couple weeks of launch and MM within the first month. I hate AFK fighting, crafting, looting, etc. If you can't afford to be at the keyboard you shouldn't be playing the game....let me rephrase that. If you can't be at hte keyboard your computer should not be playing the game for you. Because your only 50% of master musician...your computer is the other 50%. No matter what the title above the toons head says.

one of the primary reasons is that, the demand for live ents has dropped dramatically and will remain very low while AFK macroBuffTainers run rampant....

doesn't it bother you to see AFK macroers stealing all the n00b mobs outside of starting cities?

new ents cannot compete with the AFKers...

You answered your question yourself:

"
I am primarily working on an alt character to act as a buffer for my main
"

So you are not interested in playing an entertainer. You just see the game
mechanic. The people who voice against afk entertainers mainly just play
_one_ character... imagine.. the main character is an Entertainer!
Just for the fun of helping people, chatting with people and maybe even
get to earn credits with it.

Now you maybe understand why the active entertainers dont like the "bots",
simply parked everywhere, healing, maybe even autobuffing, and just destroying
this way-of-life... aehm... way-of-game...

So, it would seem that the issue is more of an RPthing than an issue of people doing anything "wrong". Another question, in most of your experiences, what are non-entertainers looking for out of a Dancer or Musician? I have not run into very many people that look for an entertainer for anything other than heals or buffs. They get fixed up then split. There does not seem to be much interaction as it stands now. Is this something that is being looked at? It would seem to me thatproactiveentertainers could work out in the field or with PA's in organized events. Contract to go on regular hunting parties or something along those lines. Instead of just sitting in a cantina waiting for someone that needs help to show up. What is the difference to someone that just needs a heal in a cantina, an entertainer thatthey can chat withor an AFK'er thatthey can't. they get healedor buffed all the same. Now an Entertainer out in the field or that shows up at the "monthly" PA PvP tourney is a much more equitable choice for a RP Entertainer. It just seems that if the issue is that AFK'ers are "stealling" the business or are not "playing" like they should, why not try to expand the role of what an entertainer is?Am Imissing something. Just trying to get it straight in my own head.

Side Note: Is the BF healing in camps being changed?

it is funny - my main character is my me/mm/mr and my alt secondary characer is my smuggler drone. My main being considered more of a support class than hardcore fighter - odd that way .. but some of us do truly enjoy the prof.

I never stated that they were stealing business from me per say - though they are if you want to be nitty gritty.

What they are doing is devaluing my profession - they also have taken over and made my old hangouts intolerable to visit.

On the side - yes I perform private gigs and such almost exclusively now.

I have been lurking for weeks and just made Master Swordsman this morning before shutdown. I play 3 accounts (2 at a time) and have to say that Swordsman has been my favorite profession. The other account I use to hunt with him is a master Doc and master CM. The 3rd account is a non-combatant that harvests materials for my Medic and novice Bio Engineer (My swordsman will be going after Master CH next)

So here are the questions.

My Swordsman is a Wookie and my armor is not that great. I was thinking of taking up 2 trees in TK. One tree for the melee defense bonus and the meditate or knockdown tree (haven’t decided). Will the defense from TK take effect while using a 2-hander?

And speaking of armor….it wears down supper fast. I now have 1 set that is beyond gone and the other will be as well if I can’t get it repaired. The first was ruined when I tried to use a repair kit. Do I have to have a armorsmith to repair my armor?

Thanks in advance. Also, any tips on tricks with templates I have missed would be great.

The defence mods from TK will stack but they cap at +25 I believe (they display as higher but are capped). BE cloths and food mods add on top of this though (BE bonus cap at +25 as well).

When you repair armor use the highest rate repair tool you can find (the chance of a good result still seems low though), a master AS gets a repair bonus I believe so you could find one and ask them to do the repair.

In reference to the armor repair question. WhenI had Master Armorsmith I broke more armor while repairing it than I do now. Yes, I used the same % repair tools (all 99.9 or above), by a crafting station or not, it doesnt really matter.
