Thread: If entertainers could do this... I for one would pay for it.

Hiya. I am pretty new to the game -- so this may be an idea that tons of people have had, but I figure I might as well mention it.

Ifinaly got my own store and vendor for the first time, and while decorating it thought to myself "Gee, I really wish I could have some background music in here!" It got me thinking that I would be willing to pay a fair amount of credits to purchase tracks of music that musicians could make to play in the background of my shop! It wouldn't have to do anything special for me to buy it... I justwould like it to play when people are browsing my items.Maybe it could provide bonuses to thngs.... I don't know, I just want the music.

I think this would be a great idea to help musicians who seem to have problems making themselves feel usefull do to all the lame afkers and buff bots that have been stealing their proffesion -- and if it didn't add bonuses I don't see how it could unbalance anything.

Any ideas on this?

Maybe the current droid functionality could be extended to do something like this (or a similar mechanism used).
Make it so the droid could play music out loud in the shops (so you don't have to actively listen to it), and allow non-musicians to access the playback tracks. Then just have your droid sit in the shop and play music.
Or perhaps make it a function of the tent itself (if we're talking about a tent shop); as the ID tents have their own music now, it seems that the functionality may already be somewhat supported.
Either way, this would be really cool. Songs would maybe even start getting recognized.. "Oh, I've heard this one before, it has a really cool section coming up!"

I've long thought that two things would be great for merchant shops:

-the ability to buy a jukebox or some other form of background music

-the ability to customize "paint" colors for houses

Although I would be just as happy with shop music -- it could be extended to being more than an auditory decoration. Maybe songs in PC hospitals could aid healing or music in shops could give more XP to merchants... oh well. Asking for these things would probably make the music less likely to be put in but it would actualy add functionality to PC owned buildings that are now pretty devoid of player activity, not to mention give musicians something that they can't do while afk.

Great Idea... but im sure if this would be added it would have to be a structure option and also be part of the merchant skill tree.. if you havent yet, try posting it on the merchant boards Adding music and intergrating in npc buildings wouldnt be such a bad idea also

oh also a good idea while we're kinda on a topic of musical additions... why not put juke boxes in cantinas... They would heal bf and such but not as good as player could... this could give players an option not to come to coro or theed for healing... thus having entertainers go to other remote places... im probly just crazy but what the heck

I've noticed that there is one place in the entire game that always has backround music running -the merchant trainer's room in your local artisan guildhall. It's already in the game, so it wouldn't make sense not to have it be able to be implemented elsewhere, imo.

When the playback droids first came out, I know there were a lot of people who wanted something like this. I certainly would love to have something like this. One of the reasons I started dabbling in musician was so I could have some background music going while I was dancing in an out of the way Cantina. I hate dancing in silence.

Of course, the playback droid wasn't all it was cracked up to be since you can't program flourishes. But, there's still something a little sexy about doing exotics while the base beat of starwars3 is being droned on with a bandfill module...but, I digress...

To the point of this post, I would love to see playback modules or droids that had the ability to be sold to other players for background music (and for dancers, possibly a little holo of a dancer dancing, like a television playing in the background...or to take it even further, holo messages like R2 had with Princess Leia). At any rate, that whole thing might be a little ambitious, but I think it would add quite a bit to the game. Of course, these playback droids that a regular person could buy should not be able to heal battle fatigue, mind wounds, or be able to buff. They'd be for pure entertainment purposes. This way, they wouldn't take away business from the live entertainers, but they'd be very cool and add ambiance to merchant tents, houses and player city Cantinas, should there be no live entertainers around. In fact, they'd add to entertainers functionality and economic viability, because I'm sure there'd be a market for this.

I'd definitely love for this to happen.
