I haven't really been in the game (except to make sure my house maint is paid) for about two and a half months. Now that publish 9 has been live for a good while and publish 10 went live fairly recently, have the hologrinders finally left the cantinas? Are the cantinas finally back to be the social centers of towns?
Thanks

Well I can only speak for Lowca, but as far as I can tell, the number has been dramaticly lowered, however there are still quite a few people running unattended macros. If they are Buff-bots I can not tell as they are silent and have no spam ( The ones I have encountered). As far as hologrinding, I personally have not seen a non master playing AFK in about a week. /shrug
Only thing I can tell you with certaintly is that the cantinas are a lot more empty now. But I am doing great on tips so far ![]()

On Bria the amount of vet players learning the skill dropped by a marginal percentage but the number of active social entertainers is back on the rise. Also I have noticed that AFK is still the definitive way for people to learn the skill. So the grind mentality is still there for people wanting to learn or relearn the skill.
This week I have seen more master level entertainers in the cantinas though than at any point since early october. Lets hope it lasts.

I am making it a point to go out and perform in the larger public cantinas now that the grinders are gone and the afk is receeding. It is a much more enjoyable environtment, and I encourage any/all Masters to get in there and play their arsces off...!

Yes,
I have been activly playing in the Bestine Cantina for the past month or so. I think we haev almost chased all of the afk people out. Come visit me and the other real entertainers in Bestine on Ahazi if you are interested.

I still see several AFK novices. And I saw an AFK buff bot in Theed last night for the first time in my two weeks of doing ent/musician. I've also overheard several fighters discussing grinding their combat XP for their FS points so the grind mentallity and requirements are very alive, just shifted.

There's still hologrinding, although anyone not already a Master in one of the performing professions probably wouldn't grind up an Entertainer profession. The only place it's applicable in the Force Sensitive arena is the Enhanced Senses mish-mash, and it would be faster by far to grind out Medic xp. Master Medic is something you may be required to grind in order to get any of the Enhanced Senses: Healing tree (which is where our oh-so-valuable Wound Healing skill mods are). I refuse to do so on principle so far, in part because I don't want to lose either Master Swordsman or Master Musician to do so.
And as far as I've seen, there are still AFK buff/heal bots aplenty. There may be more live performers by percentage...I don't know. I haven't been in a public cantina on a regular basis in months.

Just updating........
I pretty much exclusively play in the Bestine Cantina on Lowca, and when I play there are no Buff Bots at all. I have not checked some of the other cantinas recently,I will try and go hit a few, specificly, Theed and Coronet.
I made about 30k in tips last night and I think I gave 4 buffs. Everyone tipped me for them, and I didn't even tell them they had to tip me
I have been trying to be on my best "good will" behavior, and it seems to be working out. I have made a few new friends and actually seem to be getting some *gasp* regulars again.
I have been answering a lot of questions about why I am in the Cantina, sometimes alone, and actually ATK. I just tell them, that its what I enjoy doing, and when people realize that someone will be in the cantina for them, they will come back.
I still want the entertainer mission payouts upped a lot and scaled for level because tonight I may not make anything in tips. Entertaining is such a fickle business

I don't know, I am a zabrak guy, and I often get tips upwards of 10k, just for playing! Especially when I am in a usually deserted cantina, or in one where it's me and a bunch of bots.
My secret is in the conversation, be friendly and they will tip you friendly. Also, actually trying to compose you music to sound nice helps alot too, and it gives you something to work on while you wait on an audience.

I'm seeing a definite rise in XP grinders in the big cantinas on Corbantis. One even wrote a ballad moaning about having to AFK their most hated profession to be a jedi.

Lytefoot, you're seeing people grind Ent XP so that they can fill the four Senses trees, right? I'm just not seeing a lot of this on my server. On Chilastra, the AFK situation may have improved slightly, although the existing buffbots have gotten more obnoxious of late; for us, the net effect may be a wash. (Fewer but more obnoxious buffbots.)
As I said to you in another thread, if you want to be a Jedi, it seems kind of dumb to me to grind it with Entertainer, since the Sense line is the least useful FS branch for a Jedi. If, on the other hand, you just want to unlock your second character, then grinding with Entertainer makes lots of sense. Are there many people who fall into that latter category?
