Thread: Droid battery life on Entertainer droids?

I dabble in droids, so I'm wonderinga couple of things. Maybe a few of you can help me out.

Typically, the only attribute to experiment on droids is Efficiency - which increases the droid's HAM. Experimenting on Quality or Durability doesn't have any "perceived" or "obvious" effect on the droid.

What I'm wondering is...if Quality or Durability have an effect on how fast the droid eats up batteries.

The reason I'm asking is - I made myself a happy little R3 named Metronome...and experimented on Durability I do believe. I gave plenty to HAM (for when the R3 plays with me) but I then threw some into Durability. He's got effects and 1 playback module.

I have another R3 who does effects. Named, very unoriginally, Arthree. I experimented up on HAM only on this guy (Efficiency, not Durability or Quality).

It seems to me like Metronome outlasts Arthree between battery recharges. So, even though Durability doesn't *visually* show any effect on a droid, I'm wondering if, in fact, it makes the droid eat up batteries slower.

Have any of you had any droids that seemed to just EAT batteries like crazy? And maybe others who lasted a lot longer with constant use?

I'm going to be performing a couple tests this weekend to check my theory.

I'm thinking 2 MSE droids - one named Efficient and one named Durable. Maybe a third named Quality. All will have identical effects modules placed in them, with identical module settings, and they will be loaded with the same batteries. I can't wait to check this out.

Would be very interested in your results. Thanks for exploring this.

Oooh, yeah! I'd love to know. I've always wanted to make my husband's old character a Droid Engineer, so I'm slowly doing that. Be great to know if I should up the Durability to extend battery life.

Personally, I charge my droid very often anyway, as it looks funny when you do it while playing. Once someone asked me if I had conductor skills... :-)

But, please communicate your result!,It'd be interesting to know!

I'm also glad Warr is looking at this. My droid seems to eat batteries like candy, but I had just assumed all were the same way. I do have a second such droid somewhere, but I don't use it, so it's hard to compare.

I'll be conducting the experiment tonight. I really need a stopwatch for this. I might have to buy a couple.

I had a busy weekend - realized my droid vendors were grossly understocked. After sighing a little and heading to Coronet, I stood in front of the Coronet ticket terminal and got an email. It was from a Droid Engineer who was going out of business, so he was selling stuff cheap on his vendor.

Long story short, I got a great deal on a bunch of R3 Chassis' at 1k each, lots of subcomponents cheap, AND:

Battle Fatigue Healing (Music) +2 CA for 1k.

Mind Enhancement (Music) +2 CA for 1k!

Not enough to make a HUGE difference in healing and buffing, but it was refreshing to see someone NOT gouging entertainers for these things. I'm glad I got it, and not someone who'd take it and resell it for 300k on their vendor.

So, the experiment is tonight. I'll post my results once I'm done.

Hmm you could use timestamp and keep an eye on it. Once you know how long your current droid takes to use up a battery you could then set an alarm to let you know .... Hmm stopwatch would be good...

I have noticed that some of my band members droids seem to eat batteries like there is no tomorrow so be interesting if there is something to this... keep us posted!

FWIW, on the DE forum, the FAQ I read indicated that battery life should be an hour per battery, and is not affected but by certain modules (which did not include the playback module).
This is obviously player information, so is not infallible (and who knows how much the playback module itself was tested). If you do have results though, I imagine that the DEs would be quite interested, so make sure and post the info there too .

On a mouse droid i have with foam & avian. From 100% and playing foam 8 times with 3 second intervals, and avians twice with 5 second intervals (1st-foam, 2nd-foam, 3rd-foam, 4th-foam, 5th-avian, 6th-foam, 7th-foam, 8th-foam, 9th-foam, 10th-avian) it took about 25 minutes to goto 0%. Will test rock hard times tonight. Also tonight will check a r3 adv droid with 6 effects to see if better model makes any difference.
