Hello

I am a 4-2-4-0 Musician and can not seem to start new songs when I am in a group. If someone else in the group start a song, I just stand there, every other musician begins to play the song. This happens sometimes even when I am just grouped with my droid.

I can ungroup, start the same song solo, then get invited back into the group. However, that gets old really fast. The /change song works just fine while grouped. If I stop to change instruments, then try to join back in the song, no go, I just stand there with instrument in hand. I have to ungroup, start the song, then regroup.

Any advice or suggestions?

If they are playing a song you can't perform yet then you won't be able to play with the group until they play a song at your skill level. You'll have to ask the group to change songs to one you know.

Here is another question.... What command are you using to start your song? you should be using /startmusic are you trying to use /startband?

I'm not quite clear on the sequence of events: Are you saying you join a group, then try to /startmusic and nothing happens?

If yes - do you get any error messages?

It's not a problem I've come across but if you can provide more details then we may be able to help. A full sequence with any system messages would help. You may want to sumbit a /bug report as well or contact a CSR (or QA on TC)

P.S. You might find ita little better to take the BF healing tree first - you already have a wound heal mod from EH tree in Entertainer but you don't have anyhing on BF - that tree is more valuable to me.

NB: Any comments I make on TC code can and often do change
before they reach live and may not reach live at all, please read my

Thank you for your comments. I think I will do a bug report. I have just been hesitant cuz that has not helped in the past on some other issues. This is generally what I do:

- Invite someone or get invited to a group.

- Agree on a song to play

- Start the song... (ex: /start jazz)

- At that point, others in the group start the song Jazz, as do droids who have that song. However I just stand there. No error message. I can issue a start command again (/start) and I get the message that I am joining the band inprogress. But still nothing happens.

- If the group stops.... and someone else start the band... the same thing happens. Everyone starts playing except me. And this is with songs that I know.

- I ungroup.

- I start the song (ex: /start jazz)

- I re-group and things work well.... until I stop playing and try to start again.

None of the Musicians I have come across in game have had this problem. Maybe something has become corrupted in my starwars software, so I will try to reinstall it, after I submit a bug report.

Thanks again for you comments.

/start jazz uses the command /startband jazz which is bugged. You need to do/startm jazz to execute the /startmusic command.

Exactly, try to stay away from using /start and /stop. these affect the entire band (while bugging you), and can really annoy somebody in the middle of a buff if you /stop them . Always best to use /startm and /stopm.

When grouped, if anyone else is playing, just /startm without a song name. You have to play the same song as the band anyway. If you have toolbar space, just drop in your Jazz song icon up there somewhere (it's in Ctrl+A -> Other).

But yeah, it's really important that you do /startm and /stopm (or, if you don't mind skipping the closing musical sequence, just /st for /stand) and not just /start and /stop, because /startband and /stopband come alphebetically before /startmusic and /stopmusic (and /stoplisten or /stopwatch, for that matter) and are therefore applied if that's all you type. I often have to yell at my guildmates, "Okay! Who typed /stop?!?" when Istop playing all of a sudden in the middle of a pre-fight buff session.

As was stated /startband (the default of /start) is bugged. When you use that everyone but the person who issued the command starts playing. That is exactly what you are seeing. Does anyone know if this has been reported as a bug?

Now where do you find groups that can play at the jazz level? I'm 70k healing from master and still stuck on SW1 and Rock if in any cantina because it seems there is always someone at that level in the group. I have to group with my droid alone to be able to compose and play songs I enjoy!
