Hi, I have been a Master Architect, Half way thru Bio Engineer, a Novice CH, a Master Marksmen, Novice Pistoleer all on different people, well the CH and BE were the same guy and Now I have started on Lowca as a Musician. So far I love it and tips are rolling in. But I do have some questions...

1. Why do so many Dancers and Musicians ask for tips all the time? I seem to be getting plenty and it bugs the heck outta me when they are like " Please rememebr to tip and heal your dancers" when there are Musicians in the group. I would rather them not ask at all.I perform and I get tips and heals. I have never asked for a tip.

2. Why do Entertainers almost refuse to do missions of any kind? There was a guy spamming for tips to train in Novice Musician last night for 4 hours or more. Even the lowly hunting missions go kill 45 of this white creature or blue thing for 4k heck Even I could do that and I have 400 in each Stat under Health.

3. Why does it seem like some Entertainers are afk more then they are there? I macro songs and sing them to the crowds they love it. I thank the crowd for responding and get them to clap helping everyones exp and cheer.

4. Why aren't hotels used more? They have stages, they have gambling, they act just like a cantina. I tried to get all of us in the cantina to move over to a hotel and play there for a bit to have a change of scenery, I didn't even get a no thanks.

5. Why aren't guild halls used as much? They have a HUGE stage and tons of seats you could put on One Heck of a concert there. I plan on doing this as soon as I get master Musician and find a few others master dancers as well. I will be making sure there are free drinks, food etc for all that come to enjoy the show.

6. Why can't we all share the Apprentice Exp? For instance you just trained me in Music Fatigue healing 1, then 20 minutes later you teach some one else the same thing because they asked in the group. It would be a nice gesture to offer someone else in the group the exp since you just got some.

I hope this sounds constructive and would like some feedback please. I am not trying to ruin anyones game experience, but I think some very small changes would lead to a much happier and maybe even more respected class. Thank you.

to properly answer your questions i would have to know why humans behave the way they do. remember alll those people you are complaining about are just that people and if you are so curious as to why they do/dont do certain things ask them. also i guess you could look into the 'downfall of man' (ie the book of genesis, the Bible). good luck with i hope you enjoy but let me tell ya it gets old.

sincerely,

eric

Not sure how I should take your post Entertainer1986. Sounds a bit constructive but I am not sure. I answered my own questions and gave some reasons why for the most part. I maybe should have been a little more clear about the feedback I wanted. I would like feed back on the ideas I had. The Concerts, Macro'in Songs, not spamming/asking for tips, etc..Thanks again.

You must have a lucky streak as far as tips go. For I as a Male Musician rarely ever see tips over the cute dancer out front. Even though about half the dancers are actually guys in female avatars.

As for the training, if someone asks speak up. As to why that person might have trained the other without asking did you tip him for teaching you? He might have used his hard earned casht o pay for his skills yet is teaching them to ppl pro bono. I know I have purchased 75% of my skills from an NPC.

Why they dont use the Hotel is a ratehr good Q. Most probably feel that the name cantina is a security blanket. Of course there are other entertainers that go about town shouting there presence is at a Hotel to hurt those trying to do tehir stuff in the cantina. So it is a two edged sword on how you do it. Theatres well they cannot Heal wounds or BF there, yet the trainers are there in most the larger cities /boggle

Tips again personally I have never asked for tips but then again as a male Performer rarely see them also when in the presence of female dancers. ( both well dressed and sleezy ones )

Thanks for the reply Calabeth. On the Apprenticeship Exp points It wasn't about me getting money or anything l ike that. It was We would all like Apprenticeship Exp so if one person in the group os taking it all as the Youngins grow up it would be nice of them to offer some of this exp to the ones they have trained. Well that answers it about the Theatres then thanks so that will be a Player event I will have to run then just like a concert or something no benefits other then hanging out and having fun. I am a Male Musician. I think I get the tips because I don't ask and I engage in conversation, sing, poke fun at and do other things with the patrons. I feel as tho I am an up and coming star and try to portray that in game. heck I even stopped playing last night to pose for a Photo one of my Patrons wanted to take of the entertainers. Well I was hoping not to cause a fuss. Good luck out there all.

1. I Never asked for tips. It either come naturally, or I Don't care for them!
(Cont. on 2.

2. Unlike many Entertainers begging for tips, I have multi-professions (As you are) and I can earn my credits many other ways. Some entertainers seem to Only focus on Entertainer's profession, so I assume they don't want to be bothered with fighting skills.

Although most gamers are males, and a lot of males roleplay females. This game (especially Entertainer/Engineering/Medic) would appeal RL girls who do not want or like to fight in games.

3. Since you already questioned about my personal business in another thread, I bet you already knew what I said on the AFK issue. I only hoped you read FULLY what I said, and not just some parts like some people appearantly do.

The principle I Live by is "Worry about myself, not about what somebody else does!"

4-5. I Agree that Hotel OR Theater should be used more, but I think the reasons is People are stubborn, and don't like to change a bit.

6. I like the way Apprecentice XP it is now...

Jer,

Well, I don't know exactly what you are looking for in a reply, but I can tell you that not everyone spams for tips. And most of the entertainers that I know, Masters and Novices alike just like to socialize.

Most of the entertainers that are up and coming around where I am don't really have to worry about paying for training, because I train for free. If they tip, great, if not, I am not worried about it anyhow.

As long as I have been given the resources, I make instruments for free. I do not seel my instruments since i would be competing in a very small market with friends and i don't need to make money off of instruments.

I used to run missions all the time. But I finally made enough money, at least I think its enough, that i do not worry about missions anymore. But my take on the entertainer missions. They are just not worth my time. I can't justify running a mission and playing for 10-15 minutes for 200 - 400 credits. Most of the spots I have been sent to are not even populated.

On the server I am at, and of course it does vary by location and time, but the set price for a Master Performer seems to be 5k / hour and thats what I got for the two gigs I did yesterday. If they can get payouts to be in that range, I will be overjoyed. Of course they must scale as its not quite fair to have a set payout for novice entertainer thru master dancer / musician.

AFK entertainers, there are always going to be a lot of them, because a lot of the people performing are not actually "playing" an entertainer and they want the heal xp so they can go out and use it to heal themselves and thier friends. i don't knock em, as long as they do not impede myself or my patrons.

The hotels and such are most likely not used because the hotels are not crowd attractors just yet. maybe with the gambling they might take hold, but there is really no reason to go in one. Theaters are not used because they are so large and our customers are mostly the get in and get out crowds. To use them we will need to actually stage events. I am looking forward to when the speakers and mikes are implemented.

As far as app xp, well in all of my groups, anytime someone asks for training the group discusses who needs xp and whatnot. And whomever needs it, is the one who trains them. Of course that is assuming they have the skills to teach em

Well hope that helps a bit and have fun

1. Why do so many Dancers and Musicians ask for tips all the time? I seem to be getting plenty and it bugs the heck outta me when they are like " Please rememebr to tip and heal your dancers" when there are Musicians in the group. I would rather them not ask at all. I perform and I get tips and heals. I have never asked for a tip.

Because they don't do anything other than play music or dance, and they haven't figured out how to do the entertainer missions, so they're relying on tips to live. Also, since we provide a definite service it'd be great if everyone did tip, but of course many do not.

Perhaps they're roleplaying some sort of pacifist pure entertainer. That's the only reason I can think of. I'd find it boring to do nothing but play in the Cantina, and I earn a ton of money doing destroy missions, explorer missions, and running errands for the rebels.

3. Why does it seem like some Entertainers are afk more then they are there? I macro songs and sing them to the crowds they love it. I thank the crowd for responding and get them to clap helping everyones exp and cheer.

Once you get beyond the first few levels of musician your progress slows down because you have to earn so much XP. If you're in a hurry to get to master musician you'll go nuts just sitting in the cantina for hours and hours and hours a day. If I leave my character doing a looping macro in a cantina for 8 hours while I go to work, I will have racked up maybe HALF of the music XP I need to advance to the next level. It gets kind of old. If you're not in a hurry to make master, well, then just play when you feel like interacting with the crowd, though you may not hit master for a few months at that rate.

4. Why aren't hotels used more? They have stages, they have gambling, they act just like a cantina. I tried to get all of us in the cantina to move over to a hotel and play there for a bit to have a change of scenery, I didn't even get a no thanks.

It would make more sense to play in the hotel, since doctors can heal people there as well, and there's more room, and gambling. But Luke didn't meet Han and Chewy in the Hotel, he met them in the Cantina, and so that's where everyone goes. One of these days I'm going to drag all the entertainers over to the hotel and just leave a mouse droid in the Cantina and name it "PartyAtTheHotel" to advertise that we've moved. It's habit really, everyone is used to the Cantina, so that's where they go.

5. Why aren't guild halls used as much? They have a HUGE stage and tons of seats you could put on One Heck of a concert there. I plan on doing this as soon as I get master Musician and find a few others master dancers as well. I will be making sure there are free drinks, food etc for all that come to enjoy the show.

Yes, the stage there is beautiful. I'd like to do the same thing, and gather together a full band of high level musicians so we have a wide variety of instruments and songs and special effects available, and put on a really good show. It'd be a great player event I think.

6. Why can't we all share the Apprentice Exp? For instance you just trained me in Music Fatigue healing 1, then 20 minutes later you teach some one else the same thing because they asked in the group. It would be a nice gesture to offer someone else in the group the exp since you just got some.

This one is just a matter of courtesy. Some people aren't courteous. I wouldn't worry about it too much though, it's pretty easy to rack up apprentice XP in the Cantinas. People are leveling all the time. Perhaps in the group chat you could tell everyone "Hey I really need some apprentice XP, can we take turns training some people if they need it?" That should work unless you have someone horribly rude in your group (or if they don't see the message!)

I had a Force sensitive character, with 23 and a half boxes ground out.
I had a master creature handler.
I had a high lvl crafter character.
I had a Bounty Hunter that I hunted PC Jedi with.

Hi Jer,

Others have already answered your questions pretty well, but I can't resist adding a couple of my own thoughts.

First, I can understand why some entertainers resist doing missions. I know plenty who have no combat skills at all. My own main character does have three skill boxes in carbine, but who knows, I may some day surrender those for Politician or some such. Yes, the entertainer and even recon missions are viable for a noncombat class, but the former doesn't pay especially well and requires a certain style of nonstop play, while the latter entails some risk for a noncombat character. Sure, delivery missions are viable, and many entertainers do them -- but they're the least interesting missions of all. People play to have fun, and most musicians would rather perform than deliver.

Second, I agree that hotels are a great alternative to cantinas, but remember that gambling is a very recent addition, and people are now in the habit of going to cantinas. Also, the hotel stage is rather cramped for a large band, especially if there are several dancers. Nonetheless, I have started performing in hotels myself, and for a while now I've been planning an opera in a theater. My hope is that hotels and theaters will eventually become the "upscale" alternative to cantinas: venues for bands of Master Musicians and Master Dancers, the places to go if you want healing really fast. But such a development requires a change in culture, and such things don't happen overnight.

On Vreni Island's ampitheater: I recently performed there with a dancer, and we got heal XP when fighters showed up and listened. I can't remember whether we verified that we were healing BF as well as mind wounds, but I think we were healing both.

just wanted to post a quick correction to something i saw above. You can heal mind wounds an BF in the theatre style guild hall. I haven't tried in any of the others. Also you can (at least are suposed to be able to) heal at the outside theatre on Verini Island on Corellia
