Thread: Question about crafting?

OK I've been playing on my Musician for about 2 weeks now and I just hit Master Musician yesterday. It is one of the best professions I've ever tried. You meet new people all the time (some that tip others that dont), and you form great friendships with other Musicians. However, I do have one question about how musicians work. Once I hit Master Musician I wanted to craft my own Nalargon, so I open up my basic crafting tool (I am also a Chef on the side), and low and behold I can't craft my own Nalargon. What crafting tool do I need in order to make my own Nalargon?

Also, some friends and I play in Kor Vella and generally I am the Band Leader since I am on the most, I've been reading some of the posts lately and they have been saying that asking for tips is bad. I usually ask for tips, but its just to remind people, and I also use funny sayings, so it gives people a laugh as well. Would this be considered taboo, or am I good as long as I don't get annoying with it?

Thanks for all you answers and I hope that everyone who is thinking about becomming an Entertainer does, it is a very rewarding skill.

Personally i NEVER mention the T word. It's turned into the biggest three letter swear word ever invented for a profession.

A salute, wave, bow, "Hello", "Welcome", "Hail", "WB", just goes so much further in cementing a relationship with other characters. The better your memory the better your income. Ask guildmates about other guildmates. All these things work so much better that the "forbidden" word.

Just a thought.

Right, listen to Feydra about the tool (although I think it may be referred to as the "specialized" tool, not the "advanced"). For anything above a fanfar, a generic crafting tool no longer cuts it.

As for tipping, I've never asked for tips, or used the phrase "tips/heals appreciated". *However*, one thing that I've found does help the income is to always thank tippers, out loudin spatial, and specifying that you're thanking for a tip. For one thing, it's just polite (and remember: thanked tippers will tip again...), plus it broaches the subject for other people in the cantina/hotel/wherever. There may be some newbies who don't know about the tip command. Or it might jar the memory of someone who was ready to tip you but got mesmerized by your music. It won't effect the cheap (or broke), but they weren't going to tip anyway.

That's just my 2 creds, feel free to ignore or point and laugh.

Well I generally great everyone that I see in the Cantina. I'll give ya an example of how I ask for tips just to show you some of the ammusing things I've come up with:

"Please remember ladies and gents, tipping is not something that you do to sleeping banthas."
"Please remember ladies and gents, Tipping is not a city in China."

Just little stuff like that, I rarely do it unless there are like 20 people in the Cantina all getting healed, they all start to leave, and none of them tip (me or anyone else in the group). Also sometimes people askwhat my ammusing saying of the day is and sometimes I pull out one of these and it gets some great responses.

As for it only taking 2 weeks to reach Master Musician.........I went to Theed's cantina and joined the group there. I was getting between 95-120 Musician Xp every 5 seconds so it was rather easy. I had a neverending macro going, but I would only use it while I was sitting at the screen, it makes it alot easier to chat it up in the cantine. When I was afk Ihad another macro that went for like 25 min and I would put it on when I went to sleep (my comps screen saver was set for 30 min, so it would discon me after that time). Thanks for the responses and I hope to see you guys in the Kor Vella cantina on Radient sometime.

ok here is the thing

you get 13 exps every 10 seconds at the starting level

and thats if your flourishing maxum and they if your some races that will tire you out fast

so lets say your playing for 87 people and you get 100 experence every 10 seconds

thats 600 experence a minute or 36,000 an hour

so in less than an hour you can get level 1 in musicianship

2 more points exp er 10 seconds for the next harder song and insturment so lets just say that two people leave and your still getting 100 every 10 seconds

in about 5 hours of playing for the now 85 people you get musician 2

lets say three more people leave keep it at 100 exp every 10 seconds

15 hours later your at musician 3

so were zooming at 21 hours so far for three levels

now lets assume someone in the place is teaching you all this so you dont ahve to leave the canteena

and dont haev to earn any money

9 hours of playing later and wow your musician 4 !

keep in mind that 9 streight hours of playing no resting no moving no anything and we are saying that now about 80 people are still listening

we skip master entertainer becouse were talking music non stop playing

10 hours and were novice musician !

so were up to 40 hours total of streight playing (or seperate sessions but totaly 40 hours of playing time)

were getting a lot more experence for the songs but lets stick with our 100 per ten seconds of playing so only 75 people are listening now

24 hours of playing takes us to musician 1

it kinda stays at that rate the ammount of exp you get kinda matches the ammout they increased the exp they raised it to get a level

so 72 hours for musician levels 2-4

another 15 hours to now get up your music tec becouse you were msart and only raided it once you knew the best instrument and best song and are getting the most exps

but after level 1 its about 20 hours for each of the levels 2 - 4

ok lets do the final math

40--hours to get through the entertainer levels

24--for musician 1

72--hours for all the music knowladge

15--for tec 1

60 hours for tec levels 2-4

211 hours of playing streight and thats all your doing no resting no going out to earn money and every new isntrument you need is given to you and you only stoped for a few seconds to teach people so you get the teaching exp you need and you had a large crowed of people listening to you all the time!

so I guess you could do it in about 8 and a half days if your playing and only playing

if you sleep when the server is down and a little more to get your 8 hours its 13 days of playing constant

and the server never goes down and you dont eat or sleep

so when someone says hay I got it in two weeks you can almost safely say yeh and you away macroed to do it

im on my third week of it now and i just started the music tec's

the just 3 hours a day the trainers say will take you 70 days to get that grand master

im sure a lot of you will scream my math is off or you get more exp if so please list examples

thanks
