Droid engineers should be able to put together two different kinds of droids; a holo production droid, which would be expensive,and a cheaper entertainment droid. The way it works is the musician or dancer must buy a production droid. It is on this they must record a ten minute performance. A dancer may hire a band so that the holo will give both dancer and musician buffs.

On a typical-quality production droid, a performance would give a viewer %25 to stats what a live performance would. So, for instance, while a master dancer can /setperform live for %100 to Mind, the holo she would make on a typical production droid would only give %25 to mind, and probably only for one hour.

Now, after the recording phase is complete, the master performer can go in on the droid and experiment with the recording, thought of as putting in effects and editing. When done, they can then create a holo which can be used as a component with droid engineers, or a schematic. If lucky, the mastercould conceivabley boost the value of the recording to give up to%40 to stats.

If the droid engineer can create a truely exceptional entertainment droid with that holo, then the value might even be increased to %50 to stats. I think this droid should only work after being placed in a player-owned structure.

Someone could then purchase an entertainment droid for their home which would give them the buffs, but it would never equal the quality of a live performance.

It would be very cool if the customer could then play back the holo, see the dancer doing the flourishes she chose, and a full band playing with bandflorishes, individual flourishes, all played back. They'd get a shorter weaker buff, and could head out from home, entertained. It would also be cool if the more high-quality, stronger buff droids also required multiple holos, so that a customer could switch songs at their leisure.

or, they could just give us an entertainer module, so that we can buff and heal anywhere like the docs do.

Ya I heard about that idea, but we aren't docs. I was just thinking of something that could also give some life to player-cantinas. Also, the image designer would be the one who could experiment on the holos.

I like it, and I especially likethis aspect of the proposal. Wouldn't it be fun to see R2 units actually projecting images, as R2D2 did with Leia ("Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only slitherhornist")? Anyway, I'll add it to my growing list of "cool ideas for the devs," and I'll post it in the Correspondent Forum.

we may not be docs, but i would like a r2 unit with a set of loudspeakers on it

Speaking as a Droid Engineer, this is a great idea. You might also take this idea over to the DE forums and address it Drashk our new corrospondent. He is great at getting these ideas up to the Devs as well. In addition you will get the support of the DE's.
