Thread: Serious Trouble with the entertainer quest.....

Hey guys, I'm in a SERIOUS bind. I was doing the Entertainer quest, the one with the theatre manager, and I've hit a major wall. I've gotten to the part where you must attain rank three popularity by having 30 people listen to you. Well, I got over 20 people to listen to me and then THE GAME STOPPED COUNTING PEOPLE THAT LISTENED TO ME! I've done everything, from logging out to waiting for the server reset to even trying to re-start the quest, all to no avail. I put in a bug report and I talked to the CSR's, who have basically been spinning me around in circles telling me that I am not doing the quest right and that it's my fault. Well, they suggested that I ask the forums, because I guess you all are smarter than they are. Whatever. I nust need this resolved. Server resets, logging out, nothing works. You are unable to restart the quest because the theatre managers are linked, so they all tell me the same thing. Getting another quest does not cancel this one; in fact, NOTHING affects this quest, not even SOE!!! *sigh* it is 10pm here on the third day of this facade and I am growing bitter and weary. Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Stupid question here, but how many people do you feel you have gotten to listen to you since? If you are for certain over 30, then all you can do is keep getting in touch with SOE. Submit but don't rely on ingame help tickets, and by no means attempt to get this addressed in the chatroom. I think your best course is to get in touch via the Live Tech support and keep doing this, until you find a TSR that knows what they are talking about.

You're going to have to take a deep breath, and gut it out with these people, because somehow I think you've fallen into a crack. As you said, Theater managers are linked and galaxy wide, so I do not think visiting a Planetary Record Keeper will help you, but that is another possibility. Lastly, I don't pretend to speak for NewJedi, but since this seems new and unusual form of bug, he might be able to post about it in the Correspondent Forums and get a little motion going. I'm hoping your worst-case scenario is getting the entire quest reset and starting over, I refuse to think they would leave you perma-stuck.

My fingers are crossed for you, best of luck!

Kaeldric, this happened to me too -- until I realized that the game doesn't always notify you of number 30. I stood around the Mos Eisley cantina for an hour, thinking I still needed one or two customers. Then on a whim I went back to the quest-giver and presto, I was already done. There's a bug that hides the final system message or two from the player.

So, have you tried returning to the quest-giver at the theater?

I too had this problem with my '20 people watch you' phase. Turns out it was just lack of display, went back, found it worked.

Okay people, it has been over a week now and I am still broken. I did everything you all have said, with no success. Live chat told me to write a CSR ticket, sinc ethey don't handle issues in game. The CSR's told me that I was doing the quest wrong, and to do it right, for it is working properly. They also told me that I can go to the theatre manager every 24 hours to reset. Both of those statements are false. I am getting extremely angry with SOE right, no the point where I am seriously contemplating deleting my account. Let me give you all some background information. The quest I am stuck on is the musician quest in the theatres across the galaxy. You go there and you need to pass an interview (which I did), then she tells you to go have 20 people listen to you. I did that and I had my first performence, which I passed. Then she told me to go out and have 30 people listen to you. I was in the process of doing that and I got to number 21 when the game stopped counting people listening to me. I went back to the theatre manager and she says something to the extent of: "I've heard your name passed around the streats, but it's not enough. Get out there and earn the popularity you need before you come back." Thing is, I CAN'T DO THAT. I've tried everything. I've had over 75 different people listen to me, I've tried having 30 people at once listening to me, I've tried everyone who DID listen to me to /stoplisten, I've had people listen to me through both the radial menu AND the /listen command, and nothing works. The CSR's send me replies but their replies make absolutely NO SENSE. It reads like they just used the keywords in my complaints and cut and pasted a reply out of some database. I know that important people sometimes read these forums, and I am hoping that they will read this and try to help me. The CSR who keeps on blowing me off and saying I am doing it wrong is CSR-PaulM, and my name is Velkin Delfein on the Valcyn server. If any of you wish, I will email you the email I recieved from the CSR to show you the quality of 'help' I recieve. I thank you all in advance for any help you all may give me.

Thank you very much

Ack! I can only imagine the frustration. Have never heard of this happening with anyone else and that might explain why you're not getting much assistance from the CSR - they probably never heard of it either and so are assuming you are making an error. My only suggestions are to 1) file an actual /bug report and 2) keep trying to get a CSR to log in to the server and assist you. I have had great experiences with the CSR's - had to have one log in to help with an inventory problem.

I don't have a character on Valcyn but I'd be happy to create one, listen to you and then if the counter didn't register me, I could also submit a /bug report for you. Sounds like plenty of people on your server know about your problem so you might have a few of them do the /bug after listening to you...

Best of luck and keep us all posted.

Aye... after detailed explanations to CSR about all the steps you've taken, and what's still happening, if they still feel you're doing it wrong, I'd have them come watch you, and point out exactly where they think you're making a mistake. Of course, the challenge in that is finding a CSR who is genuinely concerned with helping people, and doesn't hate Entertainers or feel we're unnecessary, like the majority of players these days.

When the quests finally got finished on TC there was a bug that stopped the system recognising listeners. I understood it to be due to the fact I and others had already completed the quests, if it is somehow that bug the only thing possible is to have the quest reset (from scratch).

If a CSR refuses to do so ask them to contact the QA department in San Diego orSeani onTC. She can tell them how to reset (she did it for me and the others on TC, but we don't have CSR's over there).

Hope it all works out and let us know how you get on.
