Thread: Why no Vocalists?

I'd love to see a real concert with a vocalist leading. Why do Musicians not have a vocal section, and putting that aside, do any ATK musicians make up lyrics on a macro?

I know a few here on the forums and in game that have made up songs. And of course they put them in macros so they don't have to do the typing.

Mesca Phost - Scylla - Rifleman/Ranger/Pilot
Crem Darkstrider - Wanderhome - Smuggler/TK/Brawler/Pilot
Mesca' Phost - Bria - Grand Master Entertainer
(Master Ent/Music/Dance/ID)

Cancelled 7/27/05 - I joined to play Star Wars, not Jedi-BH Wars. You've ignored/gutted/abused just about every other profession in the game, while spending most of your time working on Jedi and BH as they related to Jedi. You've basically killed the game for anyone who doesn't want the glowstick. Congratulations.

I have a few songs I sing when things get too quiet. Some I've set up as a macro, complete with key flourishes, some I type as I go.

I usually try not to sing when there are too many people around, and when there really isn't anything going on in spatial. All we need is somebody to decide that songs = spam :/

I'm guessing you don't see them because you don't get out enough . I know a lot of entertainers who sing, I'm one of them, I'm in an awesome girl band with three more, and our shows are just as you stated. Flourishes, lights, duets, male dancers (manflesh- woohoo!) and even audience participation songs, which go over really well. Come visit Starsider, maybe I'll post here next time Fortune's Daughters is putting on a big show.

FYI we make use of /load_alias and .txt files for most of our stuff. Its easier and more reliable than trying to write a macro ingame. Allows us to more easily sneak song lyrics from this world into that one. As well as easily mail duet partsto each other (one person writes both macros, adjusting the timing by running both simultaneously and watching the outputs. Then the second singer and the lead coordinate the start with a countdown, and voila!)

Note: what we do isn't generally for cantina consumption. we perform at events and we are the focus of the show. what we do isn't considered spam since its our job at the time. when I sing in cantina, its most often just as others said, ask nicely, or wait until its quiet.

Being courteous with song lyrics is always a good thing. I've seen people ask first in spatial if others would mind a quick song, or something equivalent. That said though, as far as I understand the spam policies, songs wouldn't normally be considered spamming as they're not typically repetitious. Messages in spatial are considered spam when they repeat the same thing in less than certain increments of time (30 seconds by most reports, though 60 seconds has been mentioned as well). That said, most songs have different lyrics within those 30 second time periods. Hmm... maybe don't sing Surfin' Bird.

I was going to say that common sense would apply here. Even if a chorus of lyrics repeated (as they tend to), a song that runs for 3 minutes or so and then concludes would never be interpreted as spamming. But... as we see sometimes, some things that appear to be obvious by common sense don't always work out that way.

Be courteous with /sing, but I wouldn't be afraid to sing songs if that's a part of your entertainment goals. If nothing else, let's not let "Them" take away our creativity for performance options. We're entertainers... we're all about creativity for the sake of fun!

I have done before. When I had dancer I won a Song Competition on Infinity with a song I made up. And now I've recently gotten musician again, I'm going to start making some more routines up I think.

Talking about Vocalists, I definetly want to hear a Wookie "singing" accompanied by, let's say, a electric guitar style Mandoviol tune like Starwars1
