Like it says above... I've been here since launch, but I have never really introduced myself, nor shared my experiences with my community.
I replied in another post recently and started getting into detail about my SWG experiences and I thought I would post them here for those that may find it interesting.
This is my Player experiences, not in-character role-playing (Although I am finally fixing up/editing all my RP tales and getting them ready to post them in several installments).

Hehe...
The name's Omadda Szool... you may have heard of me... No? *curses to himself*

BTW, I am a HUGE Star Wars Fan (In spirit, not in stature) and an immersive role-player and I love to explore. I've also been playing video games since I was very little. From Pong to Atari 2600 to Atari 800 & AppleIIe to Nintendo to Genesis to Playstation to todays modern console systems and of course PC Games.

I've been playing SWG since launch and became a Master Musician pretty early on.
This was my first mmorpg (I had beta tested a few before and even tried out some for a little bit, but this was my first true mmorpg subscription).

At the time, on dial-up, I wasn't sure if my connection would handle the game well enough to play AND since the idea of chatting and fighting at the same time was some-what new to me (in a video-game), I figured that starting with an entertainer would be a good way to learn the ins and outs, as well as safely see if lag was a major issue.

Everything turned out fine with my connection and I quickly learned a lot about playing the game.
I absolutely loved the entertainer system and the great social environments that the cantinas were... those aspects worked perfectly back when the game came out.

I had a set background and design for my character. I knew he would be a master musician, but I planned that to be his "money-making/business profession" while adventure and excitement would be the substance of his Star Wars life.

So, I mastered musician first and figured I'd probably go master pistoleer (I thought about rifles but decided they were too big to hold beneath a cantina table for the element of surprise)... but I remember the first time someone came into the cantina with a pet...
I knew right then and there that I had to have a pet that would be part of my performance.

So I ended up being a master musician out in the wild using my pistols to gain scouting experience in order to become a Creature Handler.
As I went up in both, I just couldn't decide between the two... so I kept them both and basically have a template that is spread a bit thin (AND I CAN'T PLAY THE DAMN MANDO!!).

Master Musician, Pistoleer 0031, Creature Handler 0404

Back then you could tame a Grand Wrix at novice CH... so I made that my first pet and he (Ozzo) has been my loyal side-kick ever since.

I enjoyed running around with other players and getting into fun adventures... large hunts, fun camps, exploring the great wilderness and simply meeting people, sharing thier previous experiences and creating new ones together.

All my skill points had been spent, and I enjoyed simply logging in and seeing what excitement I could find each day.
I actually kept myself un-guilded... as I felt that guilds all too often kept thier guildmates happy and ignored (at best) the rest of the population. I know that is a large generalization, but I simply did not want to tie myself down to one guild as I knew many (Also no guild offered a role-playing element that matched my own).

Then the holocrons changed.
The path to Jedi was revealed (more than a slight glimpse).
Omadda was no Jedi, but you could open up the second slot that would be a Jedi!

So, I actually sold myself out when the holocron/profession thing became known. I ended up having to grind through 31 professions... yes, ME... an imerrsive role-player that just wanted to log on with a complete skill set and "Play" my character.(I know it was my choice, I'm not complaining, just laughing at myself). Heh, instead I went through every profession other than Bounty Hunter and Politician in order to unlock the second character Jedi in the old system. Funny thing is I have a 3444 Bounty Hunter on another server that I started a couple months after launch to enjoy a different character every once and a while. So eventually I got my Jedi (So I could role-play him and show these power-gamers how a Jedi should be, lol) and made the final push to get Omadda back to his exact original (Wimpy/Gimpy) template (Master Musician, Pistoleer 0031, Creature Handler 0404).

Unfortunately, I think I'm finally going to give up on musician, after all this time.
I love being one, but I so rarely perform anymore.
I don't like the role that the profession plays any more(Both Game-mechanic-wise and the AFKer community)... it's basically 106 skill points for character backround information.
If we ever get cybernetic limbs... I'm putting them on my arms and calling an end to my musical career... I may not even wait.
I always considered Omadda to be a bit of a smuggler/type and if he loses the ability to play music, I'm going master smuggler with the same CH skills and a bit more pistoleer skills (Or more CH skills and the same pistoleer, hehe)

So, I'm a combo of some of the most broken professions in the game... yet I have zero plans to leave and I prefer to keep those professions compared to switching to the over-powered ones.
Oh, and I hunt without buffs, make camps and like to hike in SWG's virtual wilderness.

Performing Waltz with a chidinkalu on a mountain top of Talus during a clear night does bring a certain joy to me.

Just thought I'd share this with you all.

May the force be with you.

I completely understand.

I'm growing rather impatient with not seeing Musician (and Dancer, and Entertainer, and Image Designer) really fit into this game a LOT more. I'm also very disappointed to see frequent acts of severe disrepect for my fellow Entertainers. If I see another Combat player /slap an Entertainer (I don't care if they're AFK, look like they're AFK, etc) well, they're going on "the list." Once I'm a Master Musician Jedi, they'd better watch themselves.....haha.

At least we're getting fixes now. Well, fixes and breakage. Then fixes. Hopefully no more breakage for awhile. Then again, they WILL be farting around with buff timings next Publish...brace yourselves, everyone.

It's very much an absolute shame to lose veteran Musicians such as yourself. It's posts like these that I want to forward to the Devs and say, "This is what needs to stop - something needs to be done."

It's moments like this in-game that keep me going...I know these professions could be so much more, they add so much to atmosphere in the game. Unfortunately we haven't found our place in the sun (or Talusian moonlight)at all yet.

Honestly, I think we will get only slightly better before the servers go down. Much like any small business, SOE is attemping to get as much money out of this game as fast as humanly possible. Beyond that, the game is useless to them. Since the vast majority of incoming players aren't coming in for musician/image designer/dancer and recieve negative reinforcement against becoming one, there are even fewer draws to our profession. Not to be overly negative, but unless things drastically change, then this is all there is. I sincerely hope i'm wrong (because if I am, i'll be coming back in 7 or 8 months, if any of the entertainers i've met are still here)
