Warning, don't use this link unless you have a strong heart or have given up caring about the Jukebox.

I posted to that thread urging it not to be craftable and why. I just want to say to the musicians the jukebox is an item which I will never rent because I value your profession way to much and feel if I need entertainment for an event I would rather hire live players - the jukebox is just an AFK musician in a box.

Oh my god,

That must nver happen, if this jukebox would became permanent it mean teh end of the entertainer profession (at least musician). I prefer then having NPC spamming too much in a cantina then seeing musician disapear because of a permanent item that is a musician with better song and nicier sound.

I posted in that thread in support of the jukebox being player-crafted. This thing isin the game and will continue to be. I would like for it and anything else having to do with music to be our baby. I am primarily a performer. I've no interest in buffing and with the exception of fora few friends on rare occasions, I rarely bother. My primaryactivity as an entertainer is performing at events. In the past few days I have received a lot of unsolicited reassurance from friends and those who have hired me in the past that the jukebox will not replace me at their events.

I agree we need a lot. We need to be ambient..make them target and /listen for buffs & heals but our sound should be part of the SWG environment. We need alot more songs (I'd be satisfied with 50), more instruments, more tools with which we may entertain an audience. We make our own instruments but that's not really a marketable product.I'd love to have the opportunity to craft and sell jukeboxesto shopkeepers who would like their shops to be more pleasant and interesting places to visit. Those who don't want to craft certainly don't have to.

In comparing my experiences as a publicly performing musician in the real world and a musician in SWG, one of the things I find lacking in my SWG gigs is the opportunity to take a break between sets, get off the stage and work the crowd from the floor. Being the one in control of the jukebox at a gigwill giveme that. And it is something the jukebox can't do. I have a personality, I can be a celebrity. The jukebox will never be anything more than a box that makes sound.

And just a side note on musicians as craftsmen. RL musicians have to be crafters. We set up our equipment at gigs and break it down ourselves. We make sure the mic is working and duct tape the cord to the floor so no one trips over it while dancing. When my 67 Martin needed refretting or when my old twin reverb needs work, I do it myself. Sure, it has taken a lot of years to gain the knowledge and experience to do those things right but it is all just part of the job. And thatCD you hear while I'm taking a break? I mixed it myself and gave it to the DJ to play.

I think the post that bothered me the most was the one complaing about 25k being too much for 8hours... how valued are we ever going to be if that's pervasive?

If he doesn't want to pay 25k for a jukebox maybe he won't want to hire me but plenty of others will. I'm not at all worried about losing the business of a few cheapskates when I can easily make half a million in a night's work.
