Not only that, but some major continuity conflict with the EU. Of course, continuity with even the movies has gone out the window, what with every other person being a Jedi & such.

Lucas had better show us some Wookiees on the ground, otherwise SOE has completely violated one of the most fun things I've read in the EU about Kashyyyk--the fact that NO ONE has ever seen the ground, much less walked there.

As to the expansion...
Good timing for one... a little close to the last one.
CU,GCW, Profession Revamps are happening when ? One would hope that CU and GCW would be done and pushed live before that as we all know what kind of bugs is going to come out of that stuff. And if it's not in and running smooth then new players won't stick around and old players coming back to try it out won't stay...
100,000cr says they forget Ents in any part of the expansion... Lucky if they even remember to put in cantinas..

The only reason so far for me to buy it is.....well.....its my homeworld. I want to see it. I hope they put some new cool wookiee instruments in.
I mean....what would a wookiee play? A digeridoo type instrument?
I guess we need to wait for more information, but first details leaked don't look good for us ents.

Is it just me, or was this released to the press and NOT released to the players of the game? That seems odd.
It piques my interest, but the statement does offer absolutely no hint of anything coming for our professions. I read in another thread from Tiaga that we're not going to get a statement about the two week old post of "exciting news" because the dev's are out of the office for the week at a conference. I'm a bit surprised that they don't have internet access and the ability to tell us themselves that stuff came up but I guess it's not my business...it's theirs.
Regardless, the news of the expansion pack sucks. The last expansion sucked all the experienced players I knew into fourmonths of a beta test that left the live game starving (and consequently burned out most of the players I know, most left for other games.) The game languished with a lack of live issues being dealt with. While expansions can be exciting and new, the last one didn't feel that way...partially because it sapped the live game, and partially because (shockingly) the timetables put out for new information were never kept up with. I remember looking at those "INFO COMING SUMMER 2004" well into October because no one bothered to try and keep us informed.
On the plus side, this will be dealing with some of the requests from crafters, pilots, and other classes. I am glad to see someone is getting what they want at least.
It's still bloody weird that no one from SOE mentioned this on the boards or main page first though. I guess this expansion is targetted at new players and not the current ones. ((SHRUG))

You don't know nothing will be included for entertainers. IGN was most likely given a press release highlighting the big things that will be going into the expansion. The press almost always gets information first. This time there is just a bigger amount of time between their article and the announcement on the forums.
There were very few things mentioned about the expansion:
Kashyyyk w/ new quests/missions
Cybernetic body parts
Space mining
New ships
I doubt that is everything.
Besides, the article is news, they are reporting the new things that will be added. Adding content to existing professions isn't that big of news (only news to existing players) since most people who read that probably don't play the game and don't know whats in the game in the first place.
Everyone should just calm down. We don't know everything that is going into the expansion. We don't know the timetable on any of the other updates for the game.

My saying "no mention of entertainers" was to illustrate that this must not be the "exciting news" that we have been waiting for. The "go figure" was pointing out that even though the devs said they would get us information they, as yet, have not. It also speaks to my frustration.

It mentions GCW faction issues on the new planet and how it differs from existing.
PLUS....
Trando slavers (probably a new faction to fight for or against)
PLUS....
Rodian base camps for safaris, ie new basic destroy missions with all those new critters.
It does say that the new mining ship can hold 20 people so it can "double as a party ship", but unless we get some serious industrial music, I doubt it'd be a comfortable party ship like the yacht. Oh, ya, and we still can't use our playback droids up there.
Well in going over the details...we were REALLY left out....just like the smugglers.

This seems to be an expansion that an Entertainer has no reason at all to purchase. I see nothing in there that I certainly can't live without. Actually I will be surprised if they don't have a quest for a new song or instrument on the wookie home world to get us to buy it.Perhaps that will be the big announcement. JTL seemed to add a whole lot more content then whats presented so far with this expansion. JTL added an entire skill tree that everyone could pursue without giving up anything. I really hope one song or instrument will not be our only reason to have to buy this. I believe they said this will be a downloaded expansion so it would be considerably smaller. Asteroid harvesting sounds as time consuming as shell fish harvesting if you can't plant harvestors, so that doesn't sound appealing. Party ships are great if you didn't end up in another zone if you went LD. A Jedi ship... let me guess, for Jedis? I suppose it will be the fastest and unbeatable. (I already hate it). I seem to be coming up negatives on this one.

I just don't think this is something worth getting upset about. At least not at this point.
Let's wait until there are more details about the expansion before we make up our minds on it. Its the first big mention of the expansion you can't expect everything thats going into it to be mentioned.
