Why are entertainers not allowed to respec skills? Doesn't this seem really stupid and unfair considering the overall changes to entertainer professions?

Correspondents have posted that the current conversion system is most likely NOT going to be the final one.
While I can understand the devs' position that Entertainers and Artisans are not combat professions and thus should not be eligible for the respec, the truth is this:
We have been profoundly and directly changed in the Combat Upgrade to a significant degree that would make the lack of a respec both inappropriate and quite inconsiderate to our needs as players.
I maintain hope that our group size and respec issues will be dealt with in a reasonable timespan, and I will reserve my final judgment on the CU for the "final" product as it goes live.
That said, as it stands, I see no reason to maintain my Entertainer skills in the Combat Upgrade. My ex-guild has now hired an AFK buffbot, supplanting my place in the CU because I am not an AFK, still-standing, non-stop macro'ing fleshwrap model who spams in guildchat 24/7. Due to the fact that having ANY non-combat skills makes me ineligible for high-end content in the level-based system of the CU, the choice to drop my beloved Entertainer skills is almost out of my hands.

I agree with you, Lei. I've decided to go full combat in the CU. I've also given into the fact we won't be getting a respec, so I'm grinding out the combat profs now, as it'll prolly be slower after the insane buffs and armor are toned down. That and the fact my composite armor will be useless to me after the CU as I won't be certed for it, so I might as well wear the suit down now.

Yeah this is seriously FUBAR as the respec is at the moment. Myself I plan on being Carb/BH/NoviceMusician. I thought of SL but the defenses were just too good to pass up with BH. At this time I am not master any Carb or BH, but am in Musician. Due to a shoulder muscle injury I have atm it makes hunting pretty hard to do 1 handed, unless I want tofeel like throwing up all the time using that shoulder. Rather then just Novice Musician I have gone to master since I can macro and still type 1 handed easily enough to enjoy the game still. With this respec as is, I would be getting nothing, absolutely nothing, which personally blows
Can't believe they even thought of having the respec like this when most classes in the game are effected by the CU. Even as it is, the only people getting full use of th respec are the 1 line elite professions as they are the only ones who get full use of all their skill points to spend novice or elite wise. I can understand them not wanting anyone to become crafter but still evne the crafters as with the entertainers should have the ability to use the respec.
And let's not forgot they have had 3 offical announcements about respec and each one has bene different. This the the holocron gift blunder all over again.

I don't understand why there are so many posts about this in the Ent forums. I just posted in the Bloodfin thread about char conversion because I actually did a conversion there today and no one else in the thread had mentioned entertainers at all.
Corrs can make a case for us, but they can't show feedback the same way it is shown in the actual testing threads. Please go test and post in the correct conversion thread if you would like to see this changed.

I have been waiting for TC-5 (Eclipse) to come up for about 28 hours now. As soon as it comes up, I will be posting in the proper threads, by all means.

This is correct. You can create new characters, but some older characters won't be available.
There were technical difficulties with getting TC5-Eclipse up and running (hence the delay) and we had to use an older version of Eclipse to get this test copy up.
Because of this, some characters won't be able to be logged in. This was an unforseen technical difficulty and we apologize for the inconvenience.
Please Note: This issue only effects the test environment and not your characters on live.
Again, your characters on live will go through the conversion and NOT experience this technical difficulty. This problem is ONLY for the test environment.
If the older version is from 6:00pm on 6/26/03 or later, my character should be on there. Leilani Kir'lia.
We can create new characters but not use our existing ones. If we log out of the old ones, they are rejected by the server and removed from the character listing.

I have a Master Dancer / TKM and I fail to see why I should give up entertaining just to conform to their idea of what is 'fun' for me.
I don't understand ONE bit why they have to gut our professions all in the name of a so-called upgrade that is actually a downgrade. The CU SWG is far less rich and complex. It's been dumbed-down starting with removing the complexity of HAM from 9 interactive and customizable components to 3 that we have virtually no control over...other than how many elite combat skills we take.
It's a sad day for SWG as an mmoRPg.

I haven't been on Bloodfin in like a year, lol. I just wanted to test and be able to give feedback. It's pretty easy to see that Ent isn't included in the conversion. Medic, Scout, Marksman, and Brawler all show up yellow (meaning able to convert) and Entertainer shows up white (meaning not able to convert). So even though I was limited in my testing, I could still see that!
I'm sure other people have alts... and I know we actually have Ents on the servers that have been cloned. I just don't understand why this is such a hot topic in here and no one is actually giving feedback on it yet in the place where it needs to be. o.O
Is everybody waiting on Eclipse with Lei?

The bottom line is, they should just finally come out right and say what they've been implying and trying to force on us for more than the past year: This is a combat based game, and in order to advance, you must have combat skills.
Simple solution (difficult to implement) : Combat professions are now your primary selection upon character creation. All non-combat profs are lowered to secondary skills which characters may choose to learn, or not. Characters have aselect number of primary skill points, and secondary skill points which they use to learn what they want, much like the current system.
With this system, a character could still choose to be a full time crafter/politician/entertainer/etc, and still have the oh-so-necessary combat skills to 'be of use to the galaxy'.
Rather than making things more complicated, and trying to figure out how to balance noncombatants (of which they have no understanding) vs combatants, just dumb things down a bit. This game is already too much Frank Herbert, and not enough George Lucas.

It does stink that entertainers aren't allowed to respec but I wouldn't even if I could.
I'm a master entertainer, musician, dancer and ID.
Thats what I'll be until the day they get rid of entertainers completely or until the day I feel I need to move on to another game.
