On live I play Master Musician/Master Entertainer and Teras Kasi Master. I was really really worried that after the CU I wouldn't be able to "handle" myself on some of the adventure planets. Well..last night I tested my "live" template on the CU. I boarded my ship and off to Dath Science I went. With that template I was level 54. Most of the creatures were around level 15, some of them level 30. The rancors...level 95. I thought..great..I'm dead instantly. I kept driving trying to Aggro them, sure enough, he swats at me. I DIDN'T die!! Infact I was still with more then half my health. So later Chataka (Aka DocSavag) joined me with his new skilled out template. (He's a level 80) We grouped up and had no problem walking around. We tried pulling just one level 95 rancor but got two and as we ran we were doing damage to them however..they incapped us both. We did manage to pull them away from their spawn quite a bit so after knocking us out they ran home. Now..I won't be the best TK out there...but I don't have to be..because I'll be a great musician, my true love of the game. I was worried that I'd have to give up master entertainer to be able to join my friends on hunts and such, and after that experiment I know that I dont' have too!!
Ok..rambling off...just wanted to share that all with you. I know there are several who combine their Ent skills with a combat skill.
Oh yea...the Natural armor for TK means I can look pretty when I'm fighting too. No armor coving this twi'lek's face. <giggles>

Dath has notbeen activated with the CU so things are bound to change when it is.

You are completely right there, but their level 95's are level 95's. And I was able to wander the desert of Tatooine and the Desert Demons and such were only level 20's -ish. Not a problem at all.

As much as I've been complaining about the CU, the fact that you won't be able to solo a rancor, and that you'll be able to take on more things that make sense is fine to me. And, in the PvE respect of the CU, I don't really think is too bad for the most part (but, yeah, I still hate levels.) And, as a dancer/TK, I should be able to hold my own with reasonable mobs. The thing that bothers me, however, is the PvP aspect of it. Basically, if two Master Teras Kasi's go up against each other, and if I have the 2nd profession as dancer, and the other TK has something completely unrelated, like Master Carbineer, the Carbineer/TK is almost always guaranteed to win because a) The Carbineer/TK can wear armor and b) The Carbineer/TK will have 150% of the Health that I will. It makes no sense and that's why it sucks. If two Master TK's are going up against each other, the person who is better at playing the game should win, the one that has that extra combat profession shouldn't automatically be the winner 99% of the time.
And, for that matter, even though I'm ok with the grouping PvE concept and fighting things at a reasonable level, the truth is, the TKM/Carbineer will be much more effective in combat than I will, even if the TKM/Carbineer uses no Carbineer skills during the battle.

Well...they don't get the TK defensive bonus'. We'll have to see about that. I'll try to test this

It would not be so bad if they could make the game apply only the stats that apply to teh combat skill your usingl.. so if your Pvping and doing it unarmed... ONLY the unarmed defences, skills and HP would apply.

Well...that makes logical sense considering part of the point of this whole thing was to eliminate stacking. But, I have ceased to expect any logic whatsoever from this dev team.

That was an original goal 7 months ago. Since then the focus has changed and they openly and actively encourage stacking as part of the CU. Of course they now openly and actively support AFK while claiming they will just make ATK more worthwhile so who is surprised?

Thank you so much for posting this. I've also been wondering what it'll be like out there. Although I'm not happy that I'll have to drop all my exploration skills and one or two of my medic skills in order to maintain my rifles mastery, knowing I won't be too seriously gimped when I do makes it a bit easier to handle.
If only I could convince them to allow more skill points for those mixing combat and non-combat profs

I have the same temp, get your butt kicked, and then go hang with the coolest people in the galaxy, and get a little roleplay in also.

Grouping is going to seriously impact life in game. My friends and guildmates are my strongest ties. With pure combat being level 80, and TKM/MM/ME being only 54 I won't be able to group with my friends. Even worse I may not be able to group with other entertainers who don't have combat, I haven't been able to get on and try that yet. This player level concept works fine in EQ but is seriously destroying the unique aspects of SWG.
So no, I disagree, a combat/ent hybrid will not be ok after the CU. They will be stuck in a no man's land between two expected templates and forced to seek out others just like themselves, how immersive and unique that is.
