Thread: Something I found out at Indy...

Hey all you other Musicians. I was at the B-fast in Indy and talked to some devs after the main stuff was done, btw the music is really cool for EPIII. I asked about us getting essentially, robbed of our utility. Yes, we will be getting our Mind Healing (Wounds)stats removed from those boxes which is a simple text edit. Additionally, they are going to be looking at the entertainment healing xp awarded while healing BF which they seemsunaware was EXTREMELY slow. They now know this and will be adjusting/investigating. I was told that by either Rogue5 or Blixtev, then further down the line I talked to GreenMarine, he's working on Smuggler atm, which sounds like is getting close to completion. Pex is a real addict it sounds like. Us guys from Naritus chatted with him for a long time after everything was disbanded, lol, Pex rocks!

Anyway, I got to talk to Julio Torres, the guy that works for LA as the producer...yeah him. He loves to play his entertainer, so we're at least represented to the devs. BUT here's the cool news, shortly after CU we're going to be getting some new stuff, I was told TWO MONTHS afterwards which is why we're not getting messed with during the CU, which to me is really cool! Oh, and they're almost violently opposed to AFKing as developers, when asked about AFKing they all sneered, hehe sitting in the front row was neat so you could see their facial expressions as the questions rolled in from the players, 2 and a half hours of questions.

In other news:

  • Jedi was OVER-represented if you ask me but then...they all want to be a super hero while I just want to be a virtuoso.

  • They have heard about a prestige system and its been discussed, not that they're going ahead with it but they've talked about it for post-mastery.

Signing off

Why didn't you punch them all in the face? You basically said, "You guy's just gave it to me from behind, but it's ok "

Heh good news! Now if only they could convince the suits to go for it. However, I do like the use of the word "violently"perhaps the end of the AFK'ers will be something to look forward to for reasons other than just them being gone. Perhaps their demise will be...well...entertaining.

Sounds like you had a good time and got to discuss some good issues with them! Lets hope they got some good ideas and realized there are some of us who are truly passionate about the professions!

If you see them again, I suggest having some qualityDev Treats on-hand. Donuts, Coffee, Alcohol.... Anything to help jumpstart the conversation and get them into good moods.

if they were so violently opposed to AFK how could they let so much afk going on? If they were so violently opposed to afking, i think they would have made it a priority since it makes their game a joke.

Yeah, that had occured to me as well... but that's still some good news here, thanks Neeno for asking those questions at the meeting and letting us know

Maybe your devspeak translator was a little wonky. There's no way they didn't know this before. It was responded to in the Corr Forums ages ago and it was discussed at both last year's FF and at the Summit. Maybe they just meant they had not realized that taking away the EH XP that we had gained from Wounds and won't be now would have such a drastic effect on our already reportedly too slow EH XP gain.

Either that, or their memory was wiped on the way to Indy.

As far as their not knowing things, that seems to be a major problem. It seemed that the devs don´t hear a whole lot about anything that is going wrong. And that 80% distaste for the CU we see on the forum poll is all bunk (yeah right bettysue marketing manager), it is based on unreliable data since they´re showing totally different numbers on their 'other sources', which cannot be released due to competition in the MMO market. The lack of communication from forums to developers goes as far as they had no clue that rebel controlled cities still had Imperial troops spamming the cantina so look for a fix on that ASAP, GM was a little distraught upon hearing it. Whether it gets fixed or not is something else but I´d imagine we´ll have rebels spamming us out soon. That´ll move some of the hate from Imperials to Rebels, hahaha its about time too.

Anyway folks, the devs can at least talk the talk....walking is another matter altogether. As far as new content, it all has to be approved at The Ranch, before it can go into SWG, and with all the books, cartoons and other games that can make things go is whatI got from talking to GM and Blixtev(thanks for helping me remember who was who Panthu), that goes for instruments, guns, locations and pretty much anything we see. So it takes forever in some cases ie. wookiee armor.

My only thought on the AFK issue is that as Devs and players they know what AFKing does to the game and the player experience, however they don't have complete control over the direction of the game.

The only reasons I see AFK to still be in the game are for a) Players to be able to level without working allowing people to play higher levels without having to work so hard and thus making them happier with the game and b) Account subscriptions in the form of buffbots and spambots.

With those reasons in mind, the reason to keep AFK is for corporate reasons, and the devs most likely don't agree with that. Thinking this way, the /rolleyes make sense. I just doesn't like the possibility of the quality of the game being sacrificed for corporate reasons.

*ahem*

I think that has already happened, and more than once in the past 1.5 years...

That's really cool news Neeno .

I agree with Panthu in guessing that either there were some nuances in what they said about not knowing about BF being slooow, or perhaps the one particular dev didn't know about it. *shrug* Good that you reminded them either way.

Anyways, it's tough to be heard right now with the focus on combat, but I'll keep on poking and prodding with our issues, and it looks like we might even become the focus shortly afterward .

I'm absolutely flabbergasted that no Devs present had a clue as to our problems.

This brings the entire communication system with this team in question, in my mind.

I do certainly hope we get some kind of reassurance of this system, because I for one would like to know exactly how this Dev team was unaware of how severely they impaced the very basic of levelling functionality for Novice Entertainers.

If they had no clue of our issues, and especially if they'd never heard of this spamming NPC stuff, I don't know how much longer I'm sticking with this game. This Dev team seems clueless to my profession's concerns, and I've been paying them for over a year to get a clue. I deserve better service for my money, and I hate saying something cold like that, but money is money. And as far as I'm concerned, I don't feel they've earned a dime of my money to them so far. We have serious problems with the validity of Entertainer professions as a whole, and now we've had our value to the community reduced, and it's not over - the skill progression of the Dancer and Musician lines was drastically reduced and nobody had a clue.

I'm stunned, and thankful that Neeno got this information for us - that's AWESOME that you put these issues in front of the Devs. If I'd have been scarfing pancakes nearby in that breakfast, I'd have jumped up and run over to give you a big Wookiee hug, and maybe give a subdued roar at the Devs.

So, what exactly do the Devs REALLY know of our problems right now? Seems like they're totally clueless.
