Thread: Entertaining 101
Hello Fello Musicians,
I have some tips I'd like to give to make your musician life more fulfilling. On Theed many musicians know me as maestro (well ok a few do), but I can make entertaining fun. Just ask around the Theed Cantina. Of course lately I've been taking calls by going out to WayFar Tattooine and such, so I haven't been around Theed... but anyhoo on to the lesson:
1st you need someone to become the "band leader". The band leader is in charge of conducting the band with countdowns.
a) How to solo:
The Band Leader must inform everyone on how to do this. First make a macro that says /pausemusic. I'm sure as a musician you already have all your flourishs' macroed (buttoned) as well. Next you pick a soloist. The Band Leader then does a count down from 5 (or 3) and counts on each "bar" or "tick" of the song. When everyone see's the number one on the screen, the Soloist performs his or her Flourish while everyone else in the band MUST type /pausemusic or use the macro they created. This will cause a cool effect as the soloist will be the only one playing for that bar of music. Rinse and repeat with different people as necessary.
b) Change songs:
Learn the songs and what goes good with your instrument. With the Omni Box I like switching from Jazz to Starwars2 in the middle of a flourish. How do you do this? Use the /changemusic. If in a band use the /changeband (with permission of the band first as not everyone may be the same level as you). This makes for a good effect and fun to listen to.
c) Bass Cutouts:
I built a macro that goes like this:
/bandfl 8;
/pause 3;
/pausemusic;
If I'm playing bandfl or Omnibox hit this macro at the beginning of a "bar" of music. This causes the band to flourish while the bass cuts out. VERY COOL EFFECT! Then the bass will come back in with the flourish of 8. Of course if theirs multiple bass players, get them all to pause at the same time ![]()
Contact me on Naritus if you ever want quick lessons and to see how it's done. Just ask a few people on Theed Cantina, I'm sure they've heard of Zacher Surrela!
PS yeah sorry about those other two posts... wierd
