Thread: The sound of your playing improves with skill gain

What if, just like a real musician, your playing ability improved over time. Let's say a beginner and a master are going to play the same song, a beginner might be able to play a really basic version of the song while a master would be able to play the same song with all kinds of changes and hit notes that a lesser skilled musician would not know how to do.

If a 1st year guitar student and David Gilmor were going to play Comfortably numb together, the 1st year could manage maybe the basic cords but ole Gilmor knows the song so well he could play rings around the 1st year. With the magic of music though, they would both be able to play together and still sound good.

So as you gain in experience, the way you sound playing starwars1 for example, is improved. Each level brings a new sound to the same song. This would encourage advanced musicians to play with new musicians and add an additional level of depth to the profession. Couple new sounds for songs after each level with instruments that sound different, and throw in some some new songs and you've got lots more reason to get down!

As a master muscian I never understood why other have an issue playing the lower songs, I mena we all started out there.

and for the most part as you level if you use higher level instraments you stil get the exp of the higher songs.

I think some people are just so tired of sw1 and rock that they would rather go off an play ballad or waltz by themselves. Do you agree that it would be more fun for you to play sw1 if yourplaying got better with each level? Instead of the same old flourishes and sounds all mixing together , you could have different flourishes/sound and even a more intricate base tune. This would add more depth to the song when played with masters and beginners together rather than a group of masters or a group of beginners by themselves.

Hmmm, Starwars 1 sounds good with a slitherhorn, fizzz, mandoviol and a omnibox / bandfill, why change it ?

Sure a ballad, waltz or ceremonial sounds better but when you've got a few different instruments and low level musicians that actually FLOURISH then you can make everything sound good, especially starwars 1...

Your right it does sound good, but no matter how advanced you become, the only thing that is different about the way you sound is the instrument not the quality of your playing. Even if you flourish yourself into a frenzy, you still sound the same as you did playing that song on your first day. Although you have devoted many hours of time practicing your craft and playing the same song again and again, you never get any better at playing it.

I'm not asking to change starwars1, what I'm asking is to play better as you become a more accomplished musician. Maybe add a couple of notes or beats to someone's playing each time they go up a level.

So lets say a brand new musician just got his first slitherhorn and starts playing starwars1. They sound, just as we all sound now if we were to pick up the slitherhorn and play along with him. Why should that be I ask? A master musician cannot play better than a beginner?

What if 4 musicians where going to play starwars1 together. Each one is one level above the other. They begin the song, The lowest level player sounds just as everyone does now, the next level up player has an extra note or two, or his sound is more rich or his flourish is just plain different, yet still goes with the base tune. So on and So on until you get to the highest level player that might be a master let's say. Well his playing of starwars1 sound so much more intense and professional that he warrents being called a master.

So, instead of haveing 4 players of different skill playing Starwars1 with the same 8 flourishes they have flourishes that match their skill level. Add to this the fact that they might play different instruments and you have a much more entertaining song to both the player and the listener.

This would give even more encouragement for people to gain in music so they could really sound more skilled not just know different songs or be able to play different instruments. It would sound more like a real band and add much to the music profession.

I agree, I enjoy all the songs. I also like the original poster's idea.

I like the original poster's idea, too, but my impression is that the devs are focusing on giving us all-new songs rather than improving our existing ones. We will get new songs. The question is when.

I would be very happy to have new songs. The great thing about this game is its ability to grow and transform as time goes by. Many aspects of the game have already been improved. I hope that this idea makes it to the development table for consideration as a future addition. Things can only get better.
