Thread: Musician Buff Scams?

I'm a dancer not a musician but I thought about this after reading the musician buff bug post. For me I can tell when the person has a buff applied. I can even see that the buff's values by targeting them and placing the mouse cursor over their blue bar. How do you know if someone claims to not have received your buff and refuses to pay, but actually did buff just fine and you can't see it?

There is no way for us musicans to see if it worked, unless we got medic skills and use /diagnose - or just ask someone else with medic skills to check the persons stats, almost any fighter has usually at least basic healing.

You can be quite sure, people who tell us they did not get the buff and deny to pay will be looked at and if they try to scam us, their names will posted all over the boards... /evilgrin

medics can't see their stats with /diagnose. They see if they have wounds or battle fatigue. If they don't the list just says zero.

Oh, I did not know you get zeros if they have no wounds, it has been a while since I dropped my basic novice medic skills and the people entering cantinas usually had wounds... :-/

I guess we must trust our customers *cough*

There is no way of knowing if the person received the buff. Musicians buff focus and willpower, which you cannot see. You only see the mind stat.

Feedback to the receiver and the performer is needed.

Simple answer: Make them pay you before you buff them.

Not so simple answer: As was said, you're gonna have to trust the customer (/shudder).

Ican't really say as I've had too much of a problem with this, since I tend to play in the same spot all the time, so I've gotten idea as to the types of people the players who come into the cantina are, so I suppose you could make the people you don't know/trust pay you first, and let the others pay after you're done. Then again, I've put so many people on my /addignore list from spamming that I probably miss a good portion of requests for buffs. /shrug

happens to me too, when someone stops listening during a /setperform, i stop hearing the music for 1 round, then the song starts over

I noticed this short stops in music too sometimes, not only for /setperform. I always thought it might be some sound driver problem but maybe it happens when a customer really does /stoplisten - most just run out of the cantina without doing it.

Needs some tests.. :-)

i think word of mouth that you can do mind buffing will bring the people to your door while they pay or not. some people are sometime to cheap to pay for the service you can alway denial them the service if do not pay the first time you do mind buffing
