New to musician. I'm in the Cantina in a group of 20 and I'm getting about 18xp per round.

At the moment I only have musicianship 3.
I'm doing a flourish every 5 seconds using a macro.

Is that the right amount of xp, or am I doing something wrong?
ALso, what kind of XP should I expect to be getting once I have musicianship 4, Novice, etc..

Thanks

Bumping is generally frowned upon but I'll attempt to answer your question.

Simply the answer is it is impossible to say. Primarally it depends on the number of musicians in the group. Whilst Dancers and Musicians share EH XP, music XP and Dancer XP are only aided by other practionioners of the same skill.

I have heard of a bug with Music XP which means to get the most you need to do flo, pause 1, flo, pause x.

You don't NEED to flo every 5s because you do get XP from the first flo, all be it reduced, for a few ticks after you flo.

You get more xp if you double-flourish (one right after the other with no pause in between), but at the cost of your action. I used to double flourish, wait a round or two, then do it again. You'll still get points as the xp "ticks down" in between your flourishes.

Generally speaking, the higher the song/instrument, the more xp you will get.

Actually, the higher the instrument, the more xp you will get.

They did this so that a higher-level Musician wouldn't be penalized for grouping with a brand new Musician who can only play starwars1. Basically, if you use the highest level instrument you can play with, you'll get the best xp possible, provided you balance out your flos and pauses.

As a general rule, I did about 2 flourishes every 10 seconds. Things seemed to move along pretty quickly doing that, and I didn't waste a lot of action.

Don't forget to put pauses in for yourself, with no flourishes, so that you can rest up while you still play. That way you don't have downtime when you're not getting xp, because you're too tired to play.

Good luck!

18 per tick at Music 3 sounds about right, but be sure that you are playing the highest instrument you can. You get best XP for highest instrument OR song. As song is often determined by the lowest member you can get highest XP for playing highest instrument. The "double flo" method is essential also. If you only get a single flo in a tick, you get half the base XP you could get. Bonus XP for group size, members playing, listeners, clapping, etc....is not affected by the "double flo" bonus. One flo every 5 seconds will most often be OK for best XP, but due to lag, you may have an occasional one that only has one. The 2 flos together solves that issue.
