Hi there folks, I've read the two Musicians FAQs, but I confess I am still confused regards to NON-Master Musicians who buff.

I have Music Tech 4 so I should be able to give a 75% buff.

If I read the FAQ correctly,I should set my timer10 minutes to buff one person with /setperform, and 10-15 minutes to buff people in a group?

Everyone I talk to in-game has a different answer for me, ranging from 3, 4, 6, and 10 minutes and I really don't know whom to believe at this point.

Thanks in advance for clarifying this for a lowly non-Master

In a brief moment of insanity I did go about 3 days without "Master Musician" as my title. In that time I did a few 75% MT4 buffs (well they were 91% cause I had +16 on tapes), but I found that the level of musician you are has NO effect on time it takes to apply music buffs.

The FAQ is party outdated and party consiously incorrect. Outdated in that some info has changed. Consiously incorrect in that some info in the FAQ is based on info gotten directly from Devs who, in later tests, we see knew NOTHING about how certain things are coded and even though they tell us how thigs are intended to work, have no clue on how they actually do.

To answer the question of whom to believe....well its all of them.

Time to get a full duration musician buff depends on how fast you flourish. I've been told that if you NEVER flourish, you can do a 2 hour buff in 20 minutes. Power hits full force after the first flourish (and after they listen for 2 minutes), but the only variable is duration. Also, buffing solo on a /setp or in a group makes no difference in the time to buff.

To give my opinion......I buff in a 3 minute 10 second method known as the "Patent Pending Fragpuppie Uber 3:10 Quickbuff". Full details available in the thread titled such. A quick summary is I spam flos 5 every 8 seconds....which is about how fast the server can accept them and the 3:10 is the best time I can do reliably for a full 2 hour durations.

The FAQ did mention 6 minutes for Masters and longer periods for non-Masters, which I think is what the devs originally intended. But as Fragpuppie says, it doesn't work that way, so I've revised the FAQ to suggest playing for about 6 minutes -- less if you can do a lot of flourishes quickly, more if you flourish less frequently. I didn't explicitly say you can cram in more flourishes by using a macro because, well, the devs have never encouraged me to encourage use of macros in such a fashion.

As for /setperform vs grouped macros, originally the devs were quite explicit about intending that grouped buffs would take longer. In fact I think they pretty much wrote that language for me. Now grouped macros are far more popular than /setp, which appears less reliable and in any case isn't congenial to buffbots. Anyway, I've revised the FAQ to eliminate any suggestion that the /setp buff is quicker to apply than the grouped buff.

Unfortunately, the same outdated language appears in the Knowledge Base entry, which means I'll have to get that changed too. While I'm at it, what else should I change?

Fragpuppie TY SO MUCH for the macro -- I tried it today on a guildie and it worked like a charm!

And NewJedi, thanks also for the other information and in general for the FAQ.
