I had posted this on the entertainer forum hoping I would get both dancers and musicians but I don't think many must go there. I have tried to start a thread to generate ideas as to how we can "beat" the buffbots. We do a lot of complaining which the devs need to hear, but I think we need to do some actions as well (positive ones). It would be nice if we could work together as entertainers to give the bots a run for their money.

Okay, a few quick suggestions (other people have said similar things):
Things we can do without additional dev work:
1) When someone asks for a buff respond (I realize this seems silly, but the combat class players I've spoken to claim this is a big problem)
2) Know your business when you give a buff. Tell the player to watch/listen to you, get confirmation that the player is watching/listening to you, /setperform on the player (or on the leader of the group), ensure you allow enough time for the buff, inform the player/group when the buff is done.
3) If a buff goes badly, give a freebie to that player/group next time, and apologize, even if you're positive it's not your fault.
4) Respect players that don't want to chat. Chat with players who do.

Things the devs could do that would be helpful:
1) Inform ents who is listening/watching them
2) Allow ents to see the wounds/BF of those listening to/watching them
3) Give ents the power to somehow modify their performances to better accomodate those listening to/watching them. For example, if I see that BF is the primary problem players have, I can shift my healing to favor BF over wounds.
4) Let us see if the buff is working, and for how long it is currently effective
5) Enable some sort of DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) type game where the game displays random flourishes, and the performer has to do them, or the buff takes longer. This would get rid of buffbots entirely (well, okay, so probably not entirely, but it would make it much harder for the average person).

Thanks! Actually I think the balancing idea was mine, but I'm not positive that I didn't read it somewhere by someone, so I figure I'll give credit to some shadowy muse.

I find that taking out my playback/effects droid and nalagron draws attention that you are a master. Then just play a few songs and interact with people, in my adventures i find that people prefer a live buffer/entertainer to afk ones. I get a whole lot of tells from just walking around in the cantina. Also i find that if you travel to high population cantinas it is actually better for buisiness (places like dant. MO tend to love the buffbots). Just try this out and i think you will be pleased, while i am not rich, i make good money for only having a master in musician.
