Thread: My wife is seriously bored already.
My wife is playing this game with me, and she decided to bea Tailor/Musician.
She's made it to Novice Tailor and Novice Musician now, but she's become seriously bored with the grind.
(she doesn't want to "shoot stuff" in order to play)
Since I don't play those professions, I don't know what to suggest. So, I was hoping thatthefolks on this board could help me with some suggestions for her to have more fun and avoid the monotony.
For example:
What's the best way to earn money?
What kind of "non-combat" things are there to do that would be fun?
Thanks for thesuggestions. (just remember no fighting/killing/shooting ideas)
My friends wife just started suffering from the same problem. Luckily she doesn't mind getting her hands dirty per-say. She's doing Medic/Doctor & a bit of Dancing (mainly becasue I forced the dancing on her
-- in fact all of my friends but 1 has picked up dancing because of me...yes I feel proud). If her hubbie/my friend isn't on and she tells me she's gettin bored we go out and fight some things (I guess she's just exploring, and I'm doin the fighting...but she whips a pistol out occasionally). As of late though I've been pushing to stay in the Cantina the closer I get to master musicain (workin on my last 120k) and she only pops on with her husband now.
Anyway, as far as money is concerened travelling around doing delivery missions is easy enough and lets you see new things. If she's bored in a cantina have her visit one that doesn't look like hers and is in a spot that gets the band FULL with 20 entertainers. She's bound to click with someone within the band and not feel the need to flirt for cash. Sure she won't make money but she'll have friends doing just as she is, and it kills the time VERY well. I myself get bored in about 20 minutes without the people I talk to daily, and usually befriend someone within our group if nobody is actually there to emote on. Tells are good but not the same for laughs
.
If you two play on Bria come to the Theed Cantina -- that place is always jumpin
.
Of course there's always misions for rebels or imperials, but I haven't worked on their deliver ymissions as of yet. I would HOPE though that they have a coherent continuing story to keep you at it. And there's always the advancing in rank
. Since she's a tailor, has she opened her own shop yet? Decorated her house? I know it costs a bit, but as her hubbie perhaps you're willing to run 2 or 4 destroy missions a day to keep her equipment/factories up and running? The actual act of decoratign will take tons of money on top of the house, but it takes time
. And when she gets her own vendors and factories or friends who can give ehr the required items to craft who are neighbors, the in-game community takes over
. And then you're logging in to communicate with folks and have a blast instead of grind the xp away. And lord knows when you're having fun you forget about your work
.
Deliveries from terminalsmay bethe fastest and easiest way to make money - but if its boredom that is the problem, there is no way they are the 'best' ![]()
Why not:
Organize a fashion show
Get dancer friends to participate in a "photo shoot" for her clothes
Become a wedding coordinator (she might find a lot of takers)
Organize a dance
Get together with an ID and set up a beauty salon
Set up a "thrift shop" for entertainers, where they can sell their old costumes and use the credits to buy new ones
Write a musical (or get someone else to), then produce and costume it...there are lots of neat stages scattered around..has anyone used them yet?
As a tailor she should have plenty of fun if she opens a shop. They can have a good time setting itup and keeping it stocked. Take some time to advertise her shop and really make it great. Also, being an entertainer, she can design the clothes for all the other entertainers. Go to different planets and go in the cantinas and let them know she can make a custom outfit.
First off, what city is she playing music in? Finding a good group of musicians is rather important to not going crazy.
I would say though, you have to have a lot of inherent interest in being either an artisan or entertainer to get very far with it. They are both classes that "you get out of it what you put in", and can't expect much enjoyment out of it if you sit back and grind.
Hmmm... We know what she dislikes (violence) but we don't really know what she likes, if you get my drift.
Has she tried dancing or image design? If she's a novice musician then she'll want the mandovial eventually. Take a break from the music and work up a couple of boxes in the other entertainer fields so that she moves toward master entertainer.
Is she playing the miner game? If she is a tailor, then she'll be wanting a constant supply of things like fiberplast, inert petro, andmetal. Help her to buy a wind harvester and go out with her to find a place to survey a good place to plant it. She's the surveyor, you're the protection. Once it's up and going, buy a chemical harvester or a mineral harvester and go out to plant that. Once you've got the routine going, you can power multiple harvesters and/or sell the extra power and then craft with and/or sell the resources.
Does she enjoy surveying? The guild hall will often have a NPC that gives survey missions.
Has she traveled much? Take her on a tour of the galaxy. Experience the 20-person band in Coronet. Experience the big tippers at Mos Espa. Check out the theme parks, or just explore. I've got some nifty screen shots of my toon standing at an Imperial Naval base with a TIE Bomber, TIE fighter, and shuttle in the background. I'm undoubtedly NOT the first to ever see it but nobody I know has ever been there. There are tons of things to run across. Have her take a trip across country instead of taking the shuttle. Buy her novice medic and, when you get into combat, let her do the healing duties while you do the fighting. Talk to the NPC's you meet in the wilderness. Many will give you crafting, survey or recon missions that pay handsomely and don't require any violence to complete.
All work and no play makes Jane a dull girl. Basically, just get out of the cantina. Heck, make her buy novice scout and let her "clean up" after your hunting. Let her work towards creature handler. She's obviously not a combat type, so she'd be in it for the fun of taming the animals and having them do tricks like dance at the cantina. The current "nerfs" wouldn't matter to her at all.
Open a shop. Join the rebellion. Anchorhead delivery missions don't require any fighting, pay well over a couple of hours, and the cantina there is always in need of musicians. She may not want to do the fighting, but I bet she'd get into the healing role if she was there playing forthe stressed out troopsduring or just after an imperial raid.
It sounds like she needs some goals. Figure out what she likes to do and then set some goals together that give her feedback in a relatively short period of time.
Keep in mind, though, that these sorts of games aren't for everyone. If she gets bored to the point of not enjoying it any more, then let her move on to something else.
Very good ideas JD! I also have fun taking a starship to bestine, tatooine where most of the people are on many of the servers and hocking my dusters. I like to roleplay when I'm selling. For instance, if I'm hocking Black Spec-Ops Dusters and the rebels attack I'll "/shout Fight the rebels in style! Buy a Black Spec-Ops Duster today!" I always start my price off high and let myself be talked down. For instance say I start a spec-ops duster at 5k, somebody will tell me i'm **edit**ing nuts, I'll ask them to make me an offer then, they'll say no more than 2k. I'll say "But I have little Mon Calamaris to feed at home, my wife would kill me if I sold one of these for 2k, how about 4k?" and then just go back and forth like that. That kind of stuff is fun to me anyways.
