Thread: Issues for New Jedi
Ok, let's compile them in one nice place.
1 - Musicians have to play down to the lowest member of the group, meaning SW1, all day, all night. God help us all. This can make it hard for newbies to find a group if higher level musicians don't feel like listening to SW1 again.
2 - Musician XP is dependent on playing the highest level instrument or song, meaning, for example, if we join a group playing SW1 and our current max instrument has the slitherhorn sound, we're stuck with that god awful main riff.
3 - Single flourishing in a tick after a double flourish in a tickgives half XP, when doing nothing gives more XP.
4 - If you are playing a song before being invited into a group, you can continue playing a different song once in the group. This sounds horrible, especially when the person refuses to stop.
5 - There is only one stringed instrument available only to master entertainers. A second should be added to master musician. (I wantsssss it!)
6 - Most of the drum loops have very abrupt transitions between segments
7 - /cheer only gives XP to one member of the group
8 - /tipsplit would make it much easier for everyone in the group to share tips.
9 - For God's sake please change the base riff to SW1. For all that is sacred! Please!
10 - At this point there's really no reason to be a musician at all. Someone who fills the entertainer boxes can heal rather well on their own. Perhaps high-end musician content could include recording performances which could act as buffs and be soldor having an increased ability to coordinate group members.
11 - We hatessss the SW1 base riff. We hatessss it forever!
12 - Ommnibox and Naglaron are buggy. I'm not sure of the details, but apparently you have to keep the instrument targetted or you stop playing.
13 - Wookies get all the girls
14 - Gig missions could use some indicator to let us know it's working.
Can;t think of anymore. Anyone? Anyone?
/cheer
Overall good post. But I do have an issue with #5. I want a unique sound to be on every instrument, and if a second stringed instrument were added, it would cheapen the cost of having worked hours and hours to attain Master Entertainer.
If, a second stringed instrument were added, I would want my Mandolin replaced by yet another very unique instrument, and that would lead to yet another round of, I want one of those too.
I worked darn hard to get my mandolin, its the "reward" for having had to dance my self crazy and do mind numbing Image Design on folks to attain that nice Master Title.
When I whip out the mandolin, I am easily recognized as a Master without having to always wear a title, which I very rarely do. If the mandolin is given to Master Musicians, or even a second stringed instrument, where is the reason for even having become a master Entertainer? It would cheapen it to a novelty and there would be absolutely no point to a Master Entertainer.
Well I hope I have presented my point of view in as well and concise a manner as to convey my feelings and to show, hopefully, the bad downside to giving a Master Musician a stringed instrument/mandolin.
I love my main class, I just wish people would tip a little better so that I was not forced to go hunt to support my clothes habit.

Kronx, of course you are going to have to play down with less experienced musicians, just like real life... What else would you suggest, that novice entertainers can suddenly become virtuosos just by being in the presence of a great musician?
Anyway, /agree with #3, we shouldn't have to double flourish that is obviously a bug.
#4, use bandstop or kick em out of the group... not top on my list of fixes, but wouldn't hurt.
#5, want some cheese with your whiiiiinnneeeeee?
(I'm not thrilled about the fact that I have to give up master ent to get the other stuff I want... but I still don't think it should be changed)
#6, no clue what you are talking about... they are no more abrupt than every other instrument.
#7, never notice much xp from cheer to begin with... Honestly, how long is someone going to cheer for you that it will make any sort of difference?
#8, if tips can be split, let the bandleader set the way tips are handled for the whole group...
#9, SW1 has bigger problems than the base riff... it is unplayable with a full band, not even close... obviously bandflourish isn't an option with SW1 in general, as master musician groups aren't playing it.
#10, No reason to be a musician? That's like saying there is no reason to be a doctor. We are there to heal battle fatigue and mind wounds... if we could sell recordings it would be that much better, but primarily we are there to provide a healing service. I think a lot of ppl have forgotten that.
#11, get better... play a different song. I would think the newbie song is supposed to suck. Be thankful the beginner song isn't Heart and Soul or Chopsticks... lol
#12, you have to keep them targeted. Seeing as the instruments set on the ground while you are playing them, and you can walk away from them, there needs to be some sort of connect between you and the instrument to let the game know what instrument you are trying to play. If I drop a box and a nalargon on the ground, how would it know which I wanted to play?
#13, yea the ugly ones...
#14, they're working... but they don't pay enough if you have to travel to perform it. They aren't on par with delivery missions even.
There are a lot of wants in the musician category for us all... but as far as needs and fixes there aren't that many... play basically any other class and then compare it to music... we're in pretty good shape. ![]()
Thanks for starting this thread, Kronx. If it's OK with you, I'm going to cut-and-paste these first posts into a new thread on the same general topic. I think a lot of people are going to be looking for "the thread" started by NewJedi, so I'll start such a thread. :-)

oh, also would love to see more intruments/flourishes/songs added. maybe these could be "purchased" for exp after attaining master as there doesnt seem to be a spot for them in the skill tree.
1) Fix the /bandfl off - Yeah you can turn it off and you dont animate the flourish. But that idiot in the band with a macro of 30 bandflourish and no pause can still send a stream of green numbers out of your head and waste all of your action.
2) Give us some usefull purpose. I did the grind just so I could say I was the first Master Musicain on the server. I then pranced around in tights and learned to put on makeup so I could have the strings and look cool. Ok guess I will take up a weapon... did it.. out of points. So what now? Do I fight low end mobs from now on or spend the next year in a cantina playing SW1 with the newbs? Money has become pointless to me at this point. Just need the credits to pay the rent on my trophy house. I just dont see the holding power of this class oreven the game if in 2 weeks I can advance my character to the highest posible level and there is no action to keep it interesting.
suggestion so this isnt a total B and moan post - Give the Master Musicians the ability to play songs in combat to buff group/debuff mobs.

Thanks for these posts, everyone. I will be sure to take them into account as I compile my first Correspondent's report to the devs.
By the way, I've started a separate thread entitled "From your correspondent: Top issues for musicians." I'd encourage everyone to post their thoughts there. But I will of course consider all posts in this forum, wherever they appear.
Cheers,
