Thread: The /changeband command

A lot of musicians stop a band by using /stop or /stopband and then restart it using /startband <song name>.

A command exists which allows you to change the band music without stopping the band :

/changeband <song name>

Anyone can use the command in the band, not only the leader. But be careful because if you try to change for a song too high, all musicians who cannot play it will stop playing it. So , change again the song and type then /startband. All musicians not playing will begin to play.

I thought there was an XP bug with this.

XP Bug too? There are a million bugs with this. Please don't use it until it's fixed. You get Permaplay and sometimes people don't switch songs. /change works great if you are solo though, I think...there might be the XP bug with that too, because I wasn't familiar with the XP bug.

/changeBand is broken. One effect of /changeBand is to make all the instruments in the band sound the same.

The xp bug part of this command is more of an exploit *cough*.

The /changeband command ate my house! Well not really, but it did make my pants sound like a bandfill! And I can't even play a bandfill! Re-logging doesn't make it go away either. I gave up that night and fortunately it had cleared up after the server maintenance the next day.

Unfortunately, I received no benefits of the XP bug, err exploit (well I guess an exploit is just a bug that is beneficial to you).

Yep, anytime anyone uses /changeband I get bugged and must log out for 15 minutes to fix the bug. Essentially, I hear one instrument repeat a song's main theme infinitely, even if the band is not playing.

Even if the command were not bugged, I would not use it. To me, it seems unmusical to switch from one tune to another abruptly, without stopping. From a performance standpoint, it's more pleasing and realistic to stop, take a bow, thank the audience, and start a new song.

If you get stuck due to /changeband (presumably being fixed in the next week or two) you just need to figure out what song you're stuck on, have everyone stop playing, then YOU do /startband and /stopband. That will clear it up for you without having to logoff. (That is, if you're stuck playing starwars2, you'd issue the command "/startband starwars2", followed by "/stopband".)

This won't unstick other members of the band. They'll each have to do the procedure themselves.

I got stuck like this a couple of nights ago. Here's another note on the fix above. If it doesn't work at first, try leaving the cantina, stepping outside, and then using the /startband and /stopband commands. Usually changing the "zone" like this usually can help should you be a little more stuck.

But very agreed. No one should use /changeband unless solo, or until we see in the patch notes that it has been fixed.
