I know everyone is going to hate me for asking this question but...

How do you make a looping macro. is thare a way to copy and paste macros agein and agein into the game to make the macro longer? I dont go AFK when i make a macro i just sit back in my chair watching tv always checking back to the screen making sure im not missing enymessages i just want to have one going so i dont have to keap pressing buttens over and over..

Thx

Currently, the preferred route is to set up a sequence of flourishes in a macro, assign it an icon, assign it a toolbar slot and then use a special command to activate that toolbar slot when the macro has run through.

For example:

  • /flourish 2;/pause 5;

  • /flourish 5;/pause 5;

  • /flourish 2;/pause 5;

  • /flourish 7;/pause 5;

  • /flourish 8;/pause 5;

  • /ui action toolbarSlot00

It's that last command that's critical. They removed the /loop command back in beta, but they left this in which effectively is the same thing. The important thing to note is that the command will activated any toolbarSlot00, which is F1 on the toolbar. That means if you switch toolbar pages, it'll still activate whatever's at F1.

The challenge is if you run into an issue (want to stop to heal Action). The macro doesn't stop. There's no command to stop macros as far as I know. Unequipping the instrument or changing the toolbar page just results in System Message spam.

When I need to stop it (to /startband or /stopband or heal action or trade with someone or something), I move the icon out of F1 to some other open slot. The next time the /ui action toolbarSlot00 command tries to activate the F1 slot, it can't because nothing is there. Then it'll stop trying to do it. You could also just switch to any toolbar page that has an empty F1 slot.

Hope this helps.

Glad I could help!

In case you want to take it a step further, you can incorporate other commands in there, like /startmusic Folk say, or /sit and /pause ## if you know after X amount of flourishes you'll want to regenerate Y amount of Action points over Z amount of time

On that /pause command, the ## is in seconds. /pause 5 is technically pausing for 5 seconds, though results may vary due to lag I sometimes have the stopwatch on my PDA going so I can sort of time how long it takes to do things. If you really want to dig into looking at a really creative /flourish sequence and seeing how much Action it'll take, and then how long it'd take you to regenerate that action (assuming no Medic is around and you haven't taken up Novice Medic and bought factory crates of Stimpack Bs for yourself ), you can program your flourish, let the flourish play through, see how much Action it used, sit down, start the stopwatch/timer on the PDA (or kitchen timer, or stopwatch, or manual watch hand) and manually regenerate action.

I love really long flourish sequences. You can really paint a "mood" with them, though it does have it's limits (hard to get a dark sounding dirge out of Ballad ). But it does come at a cost. Finding out what that cost is to you, since every character is different, becomes part of the fun.

Macroing is so great!

I can finally let the game play itself and do something useful in the meantime. For more fun, add a second computer with a dueling macro.
