Visit the entertainer forum and check out the many gig missions guides. The missions work fine, but you have to do them correctly. No particular NPC will be at the mission. The waypoint is at the entrance to the venue (normally hotel or cantina). Go INSIDE the building. Play until you get paid. It takes anywhere from five to ten minutes usually.

Do a search through this board for "gig missions", there were quite a few well-written guides.

The gig missions are currently included, and do work. I've done a whole night of them when I was low on cash. As Niklesnitz said, the noble next to the musician trainer in the theater guild hall will always give them out. They will always be on-planet, and if you don't like the location (maybe you don't have the credits for a shuttle), you can abort the mission and re-ask.

Some pointers:
1) The missionwaypoint will be at the entrance of the hotel/cantina. Go inside the building to play. Once inside, it doesn't matter where you stand.

2) Mission completion is determined by how much music xp you accumulate. So keep up those double-flourishes. Also, don't stop; if you do the xp counter gets reset. If you find yourself running out of action before the mission completes, get some food to buff action/quickness/staminaor (as a last resort) spice. There isn't any way to tell how close you are to finishing, although a "completion meter" was a suggestion in NewJedi's top five issue thread.

3) You don't have to have an audience, although if you happen to get one you'll hit the xp completion earlier. And if you join a group at the location, the mission reward will get split; even with autosplit turned off. If I get a gig to a location where someone's playing, I find an out-of-the way corner to play so I don't get in their way.

4) I haven't checked with today's update, but when you look at the misison details, it may have a type of "dancer". As long as the long description says something about playing an instrument, it's actually a musician gig.

5) If you're also looking at getting dance xp, go ahead and get a gig from both the music noble and the one next to the dance trainer. Keep aborting until they're both at the same venue. Less travel time = more credits.

Hope that helps, and good luck earning credits.

Thanks!

I actually just hit the Entertainer forum, yet another one I hadn't ever been to Between your post, that thread and the search, I'm ready to give it a shot again. I got the Rebel Faction points for the one gig mission, but no money, because I kept start/stopping (Action point problem) and just left after 10 minutes because that was what I was advised at the time.

Good to know it's tied to XP. I'll bake up some Caf and Air Cakes

As to the NPC Gig Missions, does this fall under the same rule with all NPC missions, where you can get one NPC Mission and two Terminal missions? If so, then I'd always start with the Gig from an NPC and hit the Delivery mission for the target city.

I'm not sure about the mission cap. I think the gig missions from the nobles count the same as terminal missions. I've been able to do two gig missions (one dance and one music, or one music from source location and one music at the destination when I went to a city with a theater), or a gig mission and a one deliver, but trying a gig and two delivers fails.

I'm not sure what you mean about NPC missions, are those the ones like the survey mission or the one's that give you a generic waypoint instead of a mission data object?

I've always assumed there were two types of mission: NPC generated ones (any you get through the /converse dialog tree) and Terminal generated ones. I've had in my datapad a mission to bring a crafted item to another NPC (after getting and combining components from another one) and two destroy missions. I was guessing Gig missions were the NPC one and I could pick up two Delivery missions as well.

Of course, I'm typing this as I COULD be trying it, so I'll go try it

I posted about this earlier today but it fits here.

They added a bunch of mission terminals to the test center for the big monthly update. Amoung those are Artisan, explorer, and entertainer. The ones I saw only had 4 gig missions...2 for musician and 2 for dancer. The money wasn't too great but if your looking for something a bit different I would suggest you try them out when they are put into the reg servers (in about 2 weeks I think).

The only gig mission I ever got was from a group of Rebels I stumbled upon well outside of Kor Vella. Otherwise, my mission work has been for money, XP and then Rebel Faction, money and XP

Until the Big Patch in a week or two, where can I go to get Gig missions? Just travel the Cantinas and Guild Halls /converse-ing with NPCs?
