Thread: Musician/entertainment healing experience spam
I had a long-winded post before, so perhaps it's a good thing that I had to register to post this and lost the original. ![]()
My question was this:
Is there a way to disable the experience messages in the chat bar for the musician and entertainment healing spam that fills it up?
I'm one of those folks that has to look at the keboard to type and constantly have to scroll back up to read text I missed while typing due to the spam. I miss out on a good bit of the socializing with the audience aspect of performing.
If there is anyone out there that also is typing impaired, please respond with your solutions. Thank god for the chat bubbles. ![]()

I haven't found a way to disable it, so I just created a third chat window and send it all there. My first is spatial, group and tells and my second is guild. Third is combat and system.
In addition to creating a new tab to use instead of spatial, you can also modify the existing "Spatial" tab.
What I did was to right-click Spatial, select "Modify Tab", and remove the "System Messages" from the list of included channels. However, this will also remove tip, heal, sample, and trade request messages. Then I made a new tab, and included only system messages. Oncethat was made, I dragged that tab off into its own window.
I have heard that doing this messes with any /pause commands in macros, but whether it's the turning off of system messages, streaming them to another tab, or having two message windows I'm not sure (and haven't really worried enough about to experiment). I've had to double the numbers; so I use /pause 20 instead of /pause 10.
As another useful tip: Go into the options and select "Chat color". Pick words/phrases that are important to you and make them show up in another color. I use the sentence highlight choice on: "tips you", "bank credits",and "heals you" so I can thank people who tip/heal while I play. For general system messages that I don't want to lose in the xp spam, I also highlight sentences containing"trade request", "mission complete", and "new mail". And so I don't miss anyone trying to talk to me in the spatial tab, I have my character name in the word highlight list. If you pick appropriate colors for your UI color scheme, this greatly eases reading messages. After a couple of weeks doing this, if the system message is white text, it doesn't even register.
Yeah, great advice. I have 3 chat windows...one for player chat of all types, one for system messages, and one for combat messages.
This solves the problem of Flourish spam clogging up chat, but the problem that persists is the fact that tip notifications are also system messages just like the spam. Someone in the Entertainer board suggested adding a sound when a tip is given to you, which I think is a good idea.
