Thread: Call me crazy...
I just picked up entertainer this evening, in hopes of becoming a master musician some day. This must raise all sorts of emotions and questions as to why I would want to do this - Is he a holotainer - Does he want a fast profession - why would he want to be an entertainer?
While playing my slitherhorn - I know it's sad but hey everyone's got to start somewhere - I noticed that the cantina in Coronet is more full of AFK-tainers than real musicians. Am I the only one who wants to become a musician because I like music and wish to share it with others and to help the game by being one of the few who can heal mind wounds?
As I read the boards, I hear about people who become entertainers because their consc err holocron told them to... I enjoy going into the cantina not only to heal wounds when I need to, but to see the entertainers in a very relaxed environment.
It seems as though I am one of the few who actually picks up the music playing for the actual playing of music. I've always wanted to be a musician and now I am finally going to be one - not because my holocron told me to but because I love music. The way to put this profession back on its feet is to get some people into the class who are really interested.
It was nice seeing all of your posts, and I will check back in often. Just a happy introduction from a new musician hoping to bring happiness into the cantina one flourish at a time ![]()
I look up to those of you who play this class for love of the class! Keep up the hard work and don't worry, the devs will give us a look one of these days!

If you like to jam with some non-AFKers, send me a /tell when you are in the Theed area. We aren't playing in the front, but we have fun, which is what counts
We also have a player city with an entertainer PA about 3K from Theed.

Meh, I love the music too, but hearing the same nine music clips replayed over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over... well, you get the idea -- It drives you craaaazy!

Even these days, you can usually find some live entertainers mixed in with the afk-tainers in places like Coronet. For me, the banter with other bandmates and customers was a big part of the fun of leveling up a musician. But yes, I also enjoy the music. I just can't stand playing the same tune for hours on end, so when I was leveling up, I often became bandleader and insisted on changing tunes frequently, even if that meant XP gain wasn't always optimal.
Once you gain some skill, you can form a private band, and there are a variety of fun things you can do to spice up our too-small menu of songs. Private gigs are usually quite fun to play, too.
Anyway, welcome!
I agree - I love being an entertainer and enjoy the interplay between musicians who are actually listening to and playing with other musicians - a real give and take can occur which can be a lot of fun.
There are some of us out there

Yes, we are still out there... Although I admit that I played very little music this weekend.
But I went to Moenia last weekend thinking if there are only AFK musicians then I can atleast get some medic XP, Imagine my surprise when I heard 2 musicians play Cerimonial so I just asked for a invite and joined in with my Nalagorn.
I think I stayed there for 3 hours playing music, some doctor gave us a buff so we could keep going. Alot of people commented on the quality of the band, I need to go there more often since I had good fun.
