Greetings,

While I truly enjoy my class I have a huge gripe.

OK I've given these new buffs over a week now and all I have to say is why must a buff be so dam convoluted to give to players.

Not only do I have to teach players the inn's and outs of my buff and how they can get it but it's also delivered to us in such a lame fashion. Aside from it being buggy.

We are not Unix SA's.

Give us some effects, we are performers after all. Show some notes circling the targeted player, let it raise as we perform. Wheres the freakin panache Oh I'm sorry thats /setpanache!

All these awesome graphics and they give us some behind the scenes frontslash command with no noticable presentation. Paaa I say!!!! oops sorry forgot againthats /setpaa

Ease up on the easy way out guys, you got the 3d engine lets use it a bit yes?

Cant tell if that dern thing is done or not. Just give us a command I'll make the dern icon, make it with some decent effect make it so players see it rise "As I'm Playing!!!" and cap the dam thing. Why not go hog wild and place a timer on it so after 5 mins you get a message saying it's done. Wow wouldnt that be inovative

It's almost insulting that they throw this at us, not my first mmrpg by far.

Please take finishing touches101 please Oh dam I forgot thats /setfinishingtouches 101.

Sorry for the gripe but I feel much better now

Cheers!!

Speak for yourself.. I happen to be a unix SA. Course.... I'm a dancer not a musician.

Inside my heart is breaking, my make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on
My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies
Fairytales of yesterday will grow but never die

Hey you sed it... I was just fingering through the forums. What did you expect here, some perl of wisdom?

Though I do agree with you. Pretty much everything thats been added since release has not been up to the standard of the rest of the game.. For example, you can't do most things while incapped, but you can take a sample from a lair while incapped. They are sloppy with additions.

Agree! I hope there is soon an OFFICIAL FAQ about musicians/dancers because so far it's only informations from players so we can't take it to granted... I hope the thunder poster (the one from the dev team who posts a lot) will read one day our forum and give us some tips about what coming and what we can do...

And... I WANT TO BE ABLE TO BUFF MYSELF !!!

Blackrock: Thanks for your post. "Unix SA" - LoL. FWiW, the devs are aware that Musicians would like more feedback while they are buffing another. I can't promise that this is coming, but I certainly have been asking the devs about it -- as has the Dancer Correspondent. Yes, it would've been nice to have a pretty graphical effect along with the new buff, but the devs had a choice: give us this nice new targetable buff now, or wait while they implement a better UI and graphics for it. I for one am glad we got the buff now. And I see the biggest priority as fixing the stat bugs that are plaguing not only our buff, but those of Dancers, Chefs, Doctors, and spice-users.Right now, the devs are rightly focusing on the stat bug.

Blackrock and Shaavik:My audiences don't seem to have that much trouble grasping how to get the buff. It's pretty straightfoward. As I'm sure you know, any group member can get it from you simply by /listening to you (so long as that group member is not also playing music). The longer they listen, the longer the buff; 10-20 minutes of listening will result in a nice long buff to Focus and Willpower. The buff kicks in oncethe listener types /stoplisten or simply walks out of range.

Alternatively, you can group on anyone (grouped or otherwise), type /setperform, play, and again the listener /listens. After 5+ minutes, the listener can /stoplisten or walk away. Either way, the listener should have a 90-120 minute buff.

Shaavik: What other questions do you have about the buff? I sticki'ed a thread that asks and answers most major questions about it. Would it be better if I created my own FAQ and posted it here?

I think it's not really your job to explain to us how it works. But a dev's job.
Even if I know how it works (I read your posts), I find so many people who don't know/care about our buff! It should be in a friday feature to have better audience.

Haha Jedi

Thanks Mon we are lucky to have you as our Rep

I kinda wrote this toungue in cheek after a night in Bestine explaining the buff and the ups and downs for hours...hence my post

Game is cutting edge, with so many things so..after a week of using this new toy it just struck me as convoluted and lacking any panache

I do agree, go after the stat bug first before any fluff

But presentation and simplicity goes a long way in our buisness. Hehehe just my useless opinion.

Cheers Mon and Thanks for all your work!!

Now there's an excellent idea. I'll suggest it to the devs.

I know this is old (which is what happens when I read a huge thread and then bounce back to ancient messages) but I wanted to add...if they ever do a Friday Feature (not that I'm going to hold my breath) about Being a Good Audience, it would really help if some mention was made of /register. I don't think most patrons realize they can see where a Musician or Dancer is performing from the Planetary Map.

Hey Visuals would be great.

And I can see/agree with get the buff first, then the visuals.

But it is unforgivable to have it

A) Broken

and

B) No idea when it is ready.

and

C) No real documentation from SOE, on how it is supposed to work, if it was not buggered. Can I switch instruments, song, which ones can I use.

So I end up playing in windowed mode to see a clock, and tell the buff target, Yes I am a master, and I have no idea how long this is supposed to take, or wether it is done or not, or if and when you stop listening you will actually get the buff.

It almost sounds like it was an accident that made it in, when it was planned for a future release.

Very discouraging.
