Thread: musician buffs, why only willpower/focus?
before starting a musician,i always thought of entertainers as the doctors for mind...which they are. we heal wound and battle fatigue. but for some reason the entertainer classes get their buffs to the mind stats split. while a doctor can heal the wounds to all of health and action, an entertainer class has a much more limited healing ability and buffing ability.
just wondering if any other musicians feel annoyed with only being able to buff half of what mind is.
As someone who uses up a lot of mind as a Bio-Engineer gathering DNA Samples from critters, I have to say that high Focus/Willpower is more important than a large Mind pool. Both are good, but I'd almost rather have a helping of secondaries than Mind itself. I've also done a lot of Surveyor work, and since I've never played a Mon Cal, Mind stats have always been the ones to do me in there.
We do need to share abilities with other performers. We can't have the Health or Action stats, 'cause those belong to Doctors. Healing Mind damage is the purview of Combat Medics now. (At the expense of wounding their own minds, which in turn gives performers something to do.) Chefs cross over all of that and can buff anything with their food and drink. So honestly, I think we've got all we're ever going to get in that department, and it's a pretty good deal, in my never-humble opinion.
I agree with the other posters: our buff is, IMHO, more valuable than the Dancer buff. My alt is a BE and now a Combat Medic, and I'd take fast regen over more total Mind any day. Also, buffed Focus/Willpower allows you to wear tougher armor, since armor encumbers only secondary stats, not the primary stat.
I suppose you might ask why Dancers and Musicians don't each buff all three mind pools. Personally, I like it this way: it gives Dancers and Musicians a unique purpose.
