Thread: Add Rapper as an Elite Profession
Please God, no.
One of the unique things about SWG is the fact that it presents us with a futuristic society we can participate in - one that is unique unto itself, although of course it does reflect modern human sensibilities to some degree.
Taking something like modern day poetry rap, and including it in the game would be a complete anachronism. Believe it or not, despite raps current popularity, its going to fade out like every other musical style in time. Its ubiquitous at the moment but 20 years from now the kids will be laughing at the people who still listen to rap as old-fogies.
Admittedly, they did include bigband style jazz sounds in the game and I think thats kind of stupid too - although they were constrained by the movies so we can blame George for that.
The last thing I want to see is endless people pretending to be criminals, dressing in too much jewelry and waving their pistol in the air while trying to spout imitation rap music in the Cantina. I admit there is some very decent rap- although I am no fan and only own one album that would qualify - but lets face it, the typical player is not that clever at poetry and it would grow old quickly.
Besides, its obvious the devs want to kill off entertainers and musicians, look at the current patch. The only ones that are going to be left will be the AFK macroers who are only there to convert exps to FS skill points I suspect.

Sorry I have to nitpick

They don't need to add the profession, it's already in game. I'm Bloodfin's King of Rap, having won what I believe to have been the server's only sanctioned rap-off last year. I wear the bling, drive the biggest, slowest vehicle, and add absolutely nothing tangible to society.
That said, I'd LOVE to see a couple entertainer-level dances added which look like singing/rapping. Like holding a microphone (which would be an entertainer-level prop) and singing into it. The flourishes would be Mick-Jagger-ish or Run-DMC-ish poses and hand wavings.
