why is soe screwing entertainers and doctors so much? I dont get it. I cannot figure out why soe is chasing away so many other non-combatant players. when i was using entertainers for buffs it was a great way to meet others, get groups going, and just chat about the game. Now, i go to a cantina and nothing. This game gets more rediculous by the day. Your proffesion made us have a reason to gather but now, soe has done that in. I know jedi get blamed for alot of things but we needed u then and now. I would love to figure out soe's master plan of what they want this game to be, because i dont have a clue what they their vision of this game is.

Well, if you wanted to socialize with your Jedi and use the downtimes to meet people or just take a break from the constant fighting, then all the better for you - you have my deppest respect and sympathy for it. Indeed I think that has been the purpose of these downtimes in the original game design: to give people the opportunity to take a break, to get people together.

But you know what: I think as far as the target audience for the current Jedi system goes, you are part of a minority with your point of view there. The current way to Jedi is designed for grinders and powergamers. Most peoplewho start on that path want to get it done as quickly as possible, and to be honest I can't even say I blame them. Whacking bols all day with your glowstick must get terribly boring and mind-numbing.

There is no place in such a system for downtime, and instead of revamping it yet again to appeal to a more relaxed group of players (say, through meaningful quests instead of the current "go and kill x of monster type y"), SOE has chosen to make the grind easier by eliminating as much downtime as possible. I wouldn't be at all surprised if wounds would be removed soon as well. And I can't even blame SOE for that either in the current situation, I'm sure devoting yet another few publishes to revamp Jedi yet again wouldn't go down well at all with the non-glowstickwielding part of their subscribers, considering the overall state of the game.

The mistake was implementing that system in the first place, now it's basically out of everyone's control, at least in the short term.

Hehe, that turned into a bit of an off-topic rant I guess Just suffice it to say that most people IMO aren't blaming Jedi as such (i.e. the individuals playing Jedi), but the Jedi system as implemented by SOE. Many design decisions and game changes lately stem from that Jedi system. It's been said before, so this is by no means an original statement: but SOE isstruggling to accomodate and balance an (by definition) unbalanced alpha class, and entertainers among others are among the victims of that struggle.
