The ideas below were from the son of a friend of mine who plays on my account. I've only dabbled in entertainer and to my knowledge, he's never even had entertainer. However, he woke up late one night and had some pretty good ideas. Some of these might have been mentioned before, but as neither of us read this particular forum, it isn't meant to be a duplicate.
Any and all comments will be relayed back to him, however it may take some time for me to post his replies. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this and I hope the devs can increase the usefulness and fun of all the entertainer classes.
Entertainers should be able to "write" their own music. Just like crafters they should be able to access a special crafting station and use it to create their very own masterpieces. The crafting station should allow them to select music-selected by Sony-that others will hear while the piece is being performed. They should then be able to select whether the piece is a solo, or should be played by a band.
This would promote the formation of bands because those pieces would of course give better buffs for adventurers, thus promoting the original purpose of the game; online role-play. During the crafting process there might be a part where you can choose the instruments that should be played during it.
Each instrument would be changed to give a specific buff. These buffs by them selves would be next to nothing, but when coupled with other instruments their effects begin to stack and "unexpected" side surprises would be added. For example if a horn gives a +1 to melee defense and another instrument gives a +1 to ranged defense, and the "crafter" decides to put both these instruments into the same piece the crafting station would randomly generate a second effect besides the +1 to ranged and melee defense. This bonus could be to inspiration, combat, crafting, force, or any combination of the above.
Now because two instruments are better than one why not not cap the number you can have in a band. Why not let players organize orchestras or huge concerts where you have 50 or 60 musicians all playing. If a player decided that they could organize this then let them make a piece of music for that many people. For accomplishing the task of making and gathering the people, the buffs that they would be applying would no longer +1's or 2's but 100's.
Also during the crafting of the music they player should be able to choose how long the piece will be, whether it's a minute or and hour is up to them, the longer the time the better the buffs, but the buffs are only applied over the course of the whole time given by the creator.
This new application of music in SWG would allow players do give buffs that they see fit as well as allow adventurers to get stronger buffs that will last a longer time at the cost of adventuring time and money. It would let players mingle and get a chance to know one another as well as move the focus from the Mining Colony and Kashyyyk, back to the bigger cities of Corellia, Naboo, and Tatooine.
And because they would need a place to play besides the cantina, where they can play free. I propose the new buildings available for architects; The Concert Hall and the Night Club, each of these will give different bonuses to different styles of music during the crafting period and will allow the musicians to charge their customers with out having to resort to the pesky /banktip. On the structure maintenance menu there will be several options.
The fist of which is VIP, this list is for the musicians themselves and any one else who can come and go as they please. The second option is to set the entrée fee. The third is a ban list for obnoxious customers, and the last option is the bouncer, this option will allow the owner of the building to set the password for entrance, this will automatically be emailed to every one on the VIP list and can be turned of and on at any time to prevent mass groups of unwanted individuals from entering. To prevent factions from using this building, as a hold out the players must all be on leave.
