We all know cantina's have been pretty dead lately, and it seems like if someone comes into a cantina now, it is mostly to converse with an NPC that happens to be in there. If you can't get an audience to you, go to the audience. I've picked up the camping skills in Scout and have been having good success at setting up camping spots near heavily traveled areas - like Rryatt trails. I've even traveled to my guildmates just to play some music for them where they were hunting, and usually will get a few non-guildies to come listen as well.

Camps might not have a whole lot of room for dancers, if they are doing a lot of tumbling, unless you get some Ranger-size camps. But for Musicians, you could fit a nice little band in a 0004 scout camp.

Right now, all we add to the combatants is Inspiration and that works in a camp as well as a cantina. I have found that people won't take an extra half hour or so to seek out an Entertainer, but if they see one along the way, they will stop.

Yes, I hope they add something to Entertainers to make it more appealing to listen to them, but right now the only reason people come to cantinas to listen to musicians is for RPing, but if you RP you are probably an entertainer yourself.

Has anyone else noticed the campsites to work well, or have any other tips for gaining an audience? Any good spots for camps?

This is a perfectly awesome and fun thing to do for any entertainer hybrid, however little out of reach for CL-1 entertainer like me. Baby Nuba sneezes and I hit a cloner Sure I could nag people in to being my body guards, but I like to be independent.

I am not knocking your idea at all, actually I love it, I used to do something very similar prior to CU when my travel was not limited. Friend and I used to /bandflow on different highly traveled POIs and amuse people coming and going. *sniff* I miss those days when 95% of game layout was not a no-no to me

Anyways, just wanted to let you know I think it’s awesome to see entertainers still performing on the “front lines”

*cheers*

Yes, that's a good point. I sometimes forget because my Musician is indeed a hybrid, but I have a crafter character that is in the same boat as the pure entertainer, so I do know what you are talking about. A few pointers for non-combat Musicians when traveling:

  • A BARC is almost a necessity to do this for non-hybrid. You can many times pull away from those red dots before they can hit, but even then I sometimes get incapped off my bike and run for about 100m before dropping. I'm not sure what the second fastest vehicle is, but if you can't get a BARC, get one of them.

  • The camps offer some help from aggressive creatures at scout 0004, but even then you should be able to find a non-threatening area. There seem to be a lot of critics out in the wild and you may find yourself getting beat on, if you don't set up your camp in the right spot.

  • Invest in some Defense boosted traveling clothes. Defense helps a lot in lowering the amount of damage you take.

  • You can get incapped a couple times before cloning, unless hit by a Kimo or such. Run as soon as you stand up. Don't worry about your BARC or speeder or whatever. You can store that and call it when you are in a safe location.

  • If you have the points, put some in the first Scout line. You get Mask Scent as well as Terrain Negotiation. Nice for running around the wild. The Scout skills also add to your CL a little. I would recommend at least 2004 in Scout, or 3004 if you have the points.

This is, of course, if you WANT to travel. You don't have to, but it beats standing around in an empty cantina all day.

There is a bug I encounter sometimes when being incapped off a vehicle, where I will start running as soon as I stand up and then rubberband right back to the attacker and get incapped again. Not fun.

During the mind buff era, I found that my best means of competing with the buff bots was to do what they couldn't do..travel. I established some very lucrative contracts with guilds for their weekly hunting trips and ran regularly with a good friend's guild's pvp'ers. Now that mind buffs are gone and I'm lvl 1, I thought this would be history. I was wrong. The first time took quite a bit of coordination and effort on their part and of course there's been a few mishaps, but they've gotten me out to the Ryatt 6 times now and paid me very well for it too (not to mention it has been tons of fun). I've never once heard anyone complain that I was in the way or that they had to protect me..in fact they seem to derive a degree of pride from looking out for me. A couple of times they've invited me alongwhen another group member has offered to bring their bot. Once our non-combat Inspirations are on Live, I plan tokeep the road shows going.
