Hello Folks,

Our private message boxes are over flowing and we simply can't keep up with them at this point. So here are a few guidelines that we have put together so you are aware of what we won't be responding to in private messages and on the forums.

A major aspect of our job is interacting with players on this forum and other message boards. It's something we love to do. But in order to maintain channels of communication that we can keep on top of in any given day, we want to make clear what kinds of threads (and private messages) we will not respond to. These include:

  • Private messages asking gameplay questions. When we can answer questions that are posted in discussion threads, we will. But we will not reveal anything privately that we will not reveal in public. If you have questions, you should first read the FAQs and the Game Guides to see if you can find the answer. If you have gameplay questions, please check out the game guides forum, the professions forums, your galaxy forum and interact with the correspondents. (add appropriate links please).

So, why was I lambasted by JustG for posting the Entertainer Quest info I got from him in a PM? Why was I treated like I was too stupid to know what PM meant, though he never told me to keep the info private?

NewJedi, this is just ridiculous. I'd like you to post this to the Devs and make sure THEY understand their OWN RULES.

I want an apology from JustG for biting my head off and making me feel terrible, and a clarification on what the hell the policy IS for PM's.

I expect no less.

Man, what is WRONG with these folks?

I would never post something that I got ina PM, email, instant chat, talking etc. in the forums without express approval of the person in question.

That's fine, but for the PM I sent to JustG, I asked if I could ask what the status was on the Quest since the community is dying to know, and we hadn't heard anything since the last release date came and went.

I got a reply and posted it. It was my understanding it was for the benefit of the community's knowledge. /shrug

Besides, I've never heard of that policy before I sent that PM. There must be some unwritten law of PM's that Iwas never told. And this post by Tiggs seems to contradict that - it says that anything in PM's would be what they'd post in public. So, I just don't get it.

That's just a tactic to try to get people to not ask them questions that they know are sensitive and the masses would over react to.

Of course the devs get and send PMs that are private........ that's the whole point of them.... Private Message....

I am sorry you got griped out or whatever.... he should not have done that.

If you want to try to get a dev or a corr or anyone to tell you something that you want to communicate to the rest of the community, do not ask them in your PM, send them a link to your thread in the PM and ask them to respond to it.......... but she also says do that

so don't do that to devs only corrs and other members

A) when did Tiggs post that?

B) you've been a bit too upset about this for a bit too long, might be nice to just let it die a quiet death.

Perhaps just PM JustG with a link of Tiggs saying as such and calmly asking why he felt the need to berate you for sharing information in a PM that " ...we will not reveal anything privately that we will not reveal in public"? Also forward same PM to JustG to Tiggs and ask him to address the community in the link so the policy is known to be official and understood by all.

Yelling at dev's for contradictory actions in a "jailhouse lawyer" manner will not solve the problem. But it will put you on the business end of a grumpy Dev. Additionally trying to pit one statement of one dev to another dev's comments will only net you 2 grumpy Dev's. But requesting in a rational manner to be all on the same page, including yourself and the community as a whole, can see a peaceful resolution to your issue.

Asking Newjedi or any correspondant to become that "jailhouse lawyer" will not help matters either.

Respectfully....

I think we should all just bend over and take the fact that the devs will use any excuse to ignore us that they can. There is so much going on, taking up their time such as JTL and their precious Jedi, that they have no needto, nor intention, of EVER responding directly to our concerns for the longevity of our professions, or this game as a whole.

Yeah, because, why would the developer's of acontinuing game care about it all? I mean honestly, its not like their jobs rely on it at all.
